Chad, Amanda, Peyton and Apollo arrived Friday evening for the weekend. Amanda and Chad went to Springfield on Saturday to meet friends/shop, etc., so Grammy and Grandpa were the big winners - Peyton stayed with us in Clinton!
Peyton and I started the day by picking up Great Grandma and going to a couple of garage sales. Peyton thought it was great fun "shopping" for movies and books which she had fun reading and watching later. We played outside at Granny's and Great Grandpa's house with sidewalk chalk and one of her favorite things to do - bubbles before having lunch with Great Uncle Mark and Great Aunt Mary who drove up from the Lake for a visit with the grandparents and us. Ron also joined us for lunch.
Following lunch, it was time for Peyton's nap, so we went home. All the playing and socializing must have worn the sweet little thing out - she slept 3 hours! Grandpa had filled her wading pool with water Saturday morning, so following her nap, we brought Great Grandma over here to enjoy Peyton's splashing and fun in the pool - the water was warmer than bath water, but she had a great time - she even showed us how she learned to blow bubbles at swimming lessons.
We had planned to take her to the Henry County Fair, but it was just too hot, so we played around the house, ate dinner and gave Peyton a bath before her bedtime. She was so cute - she took me by the hand and led me to the tub for her bath - she remembered that Grammy has foam soap which she loves.
Peyton giggled and giggled all day and seemed to enjoy every minute. She is such a good little eater - some of her favorites this weekend were fresh tomatoes, peas, peaches, carrots and fruit pizza - along with Blue Ribbon cream cheese squares - one of her Momma's favorite things to eat.
The kids arrived back in Clinton around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. Sunday morning the guys played in the American Cancer Society Golf Tournament. Amanda, Peyton and I had breakfast and lunch with the great grandparents and went to church. Peyton seemed confused as to how everyone at church called her by name! Many who have known Amanda since SHE was a baby commented on how Peyton is the spitting image of Amanda - I agree. Pictures prove it.
We had an absolutely fantastic family weekend - can't wait until we get to have more family fun with Peyton and her parents, of course.
