Last Soccer Game of the Year and Halloween Party
We had a good week. I took Mom to the doctor on Friday for her annual check up, which she passed with flying colors. She only weighs 98 pounds now fully dressed, but healthy otherwise. We went to a few garage sales afterward and did some cooking/baking. Good day.
Saturday was a big day. Mom, Ron and I headed to Overland Park very early to spend the day with Amanda, Peyton and Garrison - Chad was playing a birthday round of golf in Joplin with his friend, Patrick. It was Peyton's last soccer game of the season, and it was a beautiful day to be outside. Grammaw even went to the game - Peyton was pleased. She played very well and chose Blue Moose as the restaurant to celebrate her season of soccer. We had a great lunch. While Garrison and Grandpa were napping, Amanda, Grammaw and I went to Costco and Sam's.
Amanda was in charge of their neighborhood Halloween Party, so we fixed the cutest little pumpkins out of clementines with a piece of celery in the top - I wish I had taken a picture. Then we made ghosts out of a half of a banana with black gel eyes and mouth. Amanda has the cutest ideas for holidays. She and Peyton went early to get things set up - lucky Peyton got to jump in the Bounce House there for the party all by herself, which she loved. Then they came home to get dressed up for the party. Amanda wore her poodle skirt from high school and looked just like she did 14 years ago - maybe more beautiful. Peyton dressed as Merida (sp) and Garrison as her little brother in overalls - both adorable, of course. Amanda went early to the party, then Peyton, Garrison, Grammy and Grandpa followed with the double stroller, as the party was only about 3 blocks away in a culdesac. It was great fun - a cupcake walk, duck pond, bowling for ghosts, limbo, crafts and the bounce house. Hotdogs, chips, etc. for the meal. We were there 2 hours, and it seemed like 30 minutes. It was such a joy watching Amanda mingle with her neighbors, being in charge and doing a great job, smiling while her kids were having fun and just making her Mom and Dad proud. It was so much fun helping Peyton and Garrison with the games, and after they warmed up to the situation, watching Peyton helping her little brother and playing with neighborhood friends. Such a great time.
Sunday, we had lunch with Grammaw and watched the Chiefs - after a nap. A great weekend. We are blessed.
