It's been a busy few weeks. I worked at the election, serving as the supervisor this time as my friend, Debbie Sieger, fractured her hip and wasn't able to work this time. It was a long, grueling day, but we made it.
Ron went to see Garrison play football a week ago, but I needed to attend a baby shower, so I was unable to attend this time. He and Amanda had a good time visiting and watching the game in the sunshine. Peyton had volleyball practice, so Chad took her to that.
The day before Easter, we left home at 6 a.m. to drive to Liberty for Garrison's baseball tournament. They won the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. games by big margins - 30-1 and 22-0. Garrison had two - TWO - in the home home runs - he had never had one before. He was so excited. They played great, and it was so much fun!
Garrison stayed in Liberty with a teammate and his family and went to Chicken and Pickle while the rest of us drove to Overland Park to have lunch and to go to Peyton's volleyball match. Peyton played and served great, and they won 2 of 3 games. Afterward, we drove back to Liberty for the championship game in the baseball tournament. A six hour break must have been too much for the boys, as they came in second in the tournament, but hey - they were the second best team of 8-10 teams.
EASTER - it was an early call as I played the organ and piano at the 8:15 a.m. service. 160 were in attendance. Marnie Bellamy and I played 20 minutes of "gathering" music prior to the service. We played Christ the Lord is Risen Today accompanied by the trumpets from the band, and we played an organ/piano duet for the offertory and postlude. For special music, 8 hands (Brenda Ford, Janet Parks, Marnie Bellamy and I) played an organ and piano combo of The Hallelujah Chorus - it was beautiful.
Amanda, Chad, Peyton, Garrison and Bingo arrived around 11 a.m. We had an Easter egg hunt and Easter presents followed by Easter dinner at which time the Siegers joined us. We had ham, mashed potatoes, broccoli slaw salad, green beans, scalloped pineapple, deviled eggs, rolls and strawberry angel food cake dessert. Debbie brought scratchers for everyone - Peyton's card won $2. We had such a good day.
We are blessed.
