Garrison had a "surprise" baseball tournament Easter weekend, so instead of having our Easter dinner on Saturday at Rye, we spent the day in Lenexa at the 3 & 2 Baseball Tournament - fine with us! We had a great time, and ABA Piper won the Championship, placing first. Garrison pitched, played catcher, outfield and first base, and his bat was on fire. It was nice to reconnect with our baseball grandparent friends, Cherry and Kent Mickelson, Channing's grandparents, who live in Freeman, and all the other ABA families. Only one new player this year. It was a fun day.
I played the organ at the 8:15 Easter Service. We had 186 in the congregation, and it was so exciting playing Christ the Lord is Risen Today with the trumpets in the band. Praising God filled the room. Then we hosted our friends, the Siegers and the Mills, for Easter lunch. It was a lovely day.
Peyton tried out and made the JV Cheerleading Squad for Blue Valley Northwest again this year. She went to clinic all week, then tried out on Friday evening. She was so excited - we are proud of her. Cheerleading practice started the following Monday - 2 or 3 times a week. They will go to camp in the summer. She worked really hard on her cheers for the tryout.
Garrison's team played in another tournament the first weekend in April, and we went all 3 days. So much fun again. The first two games were in Lee's Summit, and the Sunday games were in Oak Grove. The first two were cold - not cold on Sunday, but so very, very windy, and it was a dirt field, so we were covered in dust when it was over. Garrison had another great tournament, catching mostly but also pitching and playing first base. He was the anchor of the team. Pitched 4 scoreless innings in the championship game. They were the #1 seed and only had to play two games to place first. They received individual trophies, and Coach Piper received a huge winning trophy. Two pitchers were injured. It was a great weekend.
Gearing up for the annual city-wide garage sale weekend. Once again, I will be having a sale with Debbie Sieger at their house. Selling quite a bit for Amanda as they prepare to move later this month.
We are blessed, God is good!
