Martin Luther King Day Holiday

Grandpa and I set out for the Overland Park area after lunch on Sunday, making a few stops for shopping before arriving for the main event in Olathe - visiting PEYTON!!! While exchanging a sleeper for Peyton at JCPenney, we stumbled upon the most fantastic clearance sale on baby clothes ever! $40, $32, $28 outfits, jeans, dresses, sweaters, etc. for $1.18 - that's right - $1.18!!!!! We "saved" $326 and spent $15 (remember we had the exchange too) - buying little Peyton some new things for now and for next winter - probably 20 items in all. You know me - I love a bargain - and this was one of the very best deals ever - if not THE best. Amanda also took advantage of a great sale at Carter's on Saturday and found Peyton some adorable things, so our sweet little girl should be pretty much set for clothes for a while. Talk about fun! Grandpa was a real trooper and held my purse while I combed the racks.

As was the plan, Amanda and Chad took advantage of Grammy and Grandpa being in Olathe to do a little "couple" bonding by shopping and going out to dinner Sunday afternoon/evening. We were sooooooo thrilled to get to take care of Peyton while her parents went out for some much deserved "alone" time. Amanda gave us all the instructions about bottles, the milk, napping, etc. and then didn't even take her phone with her (she forgot it) - we teased her when she got home that she wasn't too concerned about us! Of course, Chad had his phone and we had his number, so we would have been able to get ahold of them should we have needed them - but we didn't, thank goodness. We were so happy they had a good time and trusted us. We are doubly glad we did okay so we can do it again soon! We are always available!!!! We were blessed with another hour of Peyton time Monday morning while Amanda went to the gym and Chad was sleeping in. She was so much fun. Grammy dressed her (in the outfit Mommy had specified), but I added a finishing touch by putting shoes on her! Not that she will be walking anywhere, but they sure looked cute with her outfit. I took some teasing for that call. Oh well - being the Grammy has privileges. All in all, it was a wonderful experience for us. We had a great time visiting with Amanda and Chad (and Peyton of course) after they returned from dinner.

After we left their house, around 10 a.m. Monday morning, we went down to the Plaza for Ron to have another visit regarding the root canal which was started a couple of weeks ago. We shopped a little more in Belton on the way home. A great weekend. Murray had a sleepover with his "Granny and Grandpa" Mintun. He had a great time too.
