Girls' Fun Day in Olathe

While Chad was out of town playing in a golf tournament on Saturday, Amanda, Peyton and I took the opportunity to spend a fun-filled day together. I arrived in Olathe around 8 a.m., donut holes from Flavor Maid and cream cheese squares from Blue Ribbon in hand - favorites of Peyton and Amanda respectively. Peyton's eyes lit up when she heard she had donut holes to eat - and ate several right away!

Our day included shopping, swimming at their neighborhood pool, having lunch at Chipolte (a favorite of all 3 of us), attempting a nap for Peyton and playing. I had taken the baby swing which had been stored at our house since Peyton outgrew it to prepare for Baby Boy Todd - Peyton was enthralled with it. She immediately put one of "her" babies in it to swing and loved watching the bees fly around and listening to the music. She is so much fun and such a hoot.

The visit to the pool was great - Peyton has mastered paddling and kicking her feet in her ring to get around and likes jumping into her Mommy's arms from the side. She giggled and giggled - a beautiful sound.

Amanda is such a patient Mommy and has so much love to give to her baby girl. She suggested giving Peyton a pedicure and manicure since Peyton was asking why Grammy's toes were now pink - they had been red over Olde Glory Days - quite an observant little girl. We all got into the act before it was over, and Peyton really didn't understand Amanda fixing a tub of warm, soapy water for her feet to soak in. I started massaging her legs, but she was anxious for the polish, so that was done quickly! Afterward, she was so proud of her finger and toenails.

Mommy is awaiting the birth of Peyton's baby brother in about a month, but she was a real trooper with all the activities of the day. We talked and talked and had such a wonderful time.

We had fine dining for dinner at McDonald's followed by a trip to ToysRUs to get Peyton her own baby (which she loves), and then to Peach Wave for frozen yogurt - a fun place.

I started home at 8 p.m. - after 12 hours of making memories with my girls. I am blessed.
