Columbus Day Week October 2016 - Week with the Todds
I didn't do very good on getting pictures this trip - Grammy fail.
On Tuesday, I went to physical therapy for my heel. She evaluated me and measured range of motion, etc. and thinks it is an achilles issue instead of plantar fasciitis. All I know is that it hurts. She massaged it and used electrode shock to enter medication into the heel. I hope it helps. I had a second therapy session on Friday afternoon.
After Bible Study on Wednesday, I went to the cemetery to talk to Mom, as it was her birthday - she would have been 88. Then I drove to OP to stay with Amanda and the kiddos for a few days to help out while Chad was in Minneapolis for a training week for work. I picked up Peyton at school - took her to the hair salon where Amanda was getting her hair done so Peyton could get her hair cut too. After dropping Peyton off with her Mom, I went to get Garrison at his school, then took him to the salon. Picked up Peyton - she had her hair cut by then - and took her to piano lessons. Garrison stayed with his Mom so she could take him to swimming lessons. We all met back up at their house to enjoy BBQ meatballs and rice with broccoli that I had taken - Peyton's favorite and Garrison likes them and eats them well too.
On Thursday, Amanda took Peyton to school, and I took Garrison to school a little bit later than usual which he enjoyed. Then I went back to their house to pick up Apollo and took him to get his nails trimmed at the vet. He was very happy to get to go somewhere, but he wasn't so happy to get his nails cut. He also went with me to run a couple of errands before we went back home. I picked up both kids at their respective schools and we all went to Burger King - their choice - for fine dining and play. They always enjoy our evenings at Burger King - ha ha. At 6 p.m., the kids and I loaded up in the Jeep, went by to pick up Peyton's friend, Claire, and then we took them to Girl Scouts. After we dropped them off, Garrison and I drove up to where Peyton dances and picked up her new leotard so she would have it for rehearsal of TiniTainers on Saturday. He was so funny. He didn't have his i-Pad with him and asked me, "Well, what am I going to do, just sit here while we drive up there". I told him he could watch Max and Ruby on my phone, which he did, and it seemed to make him happy. He was a real trouper. After we got home, Garrison took his shower and got ready for bed. Claire's Mom brought Peyton home from Girl Scouts, then she had her shower - and then it was time for bed. Amanda was at a Sprint work dinner and did not get home until late. We read a book - a really long book that Garrison chose - but they really enjoyed it. Chad caught an earlier flight home and met Amanda at a bar for drinks with some of her co-workers.
Friday morning, Amanda and Chad both went to work. The kids and I went to All Around Child around 8:45 to meet the school van for the trip to Louisburg Cider Mill for Garrison's field trip. Amanda had a meeting she could not miss, so she met up with us there following her meeting. It was a nasty day - misting and very rainy and cold, but we still had a great time. They explained to the kids how the cider is made, and they got to watch the apples in the various stages of being made into cider. We went on a hayride to the pumpkin patch where they got to choose a pumpkin to take home. Peyton happened to be out of school on Friday, so she went on the field trip too. I was blessed to get to go too - thanks for asking me Amanda. Next stop was the playground area where we first gathered on the picnic tables and enjoyed an apple cider donut and cider before the kids played.
Amanda and the kids went home from there (Garrison wanted to ride in the school van back too - too funny), and I drove back to Clinton from there. It was a fun day.
Saturday morning, Ron and I drove back to OP for the weekend, as Chad was playing golf in a tournament at the Lake with his friend, Patrick. Amanda had already had a busy morning, as Peyton had a friend spend the night Friday night, Mia, so she had loaded up 3 kids to go to Lamar's to get donuts for breakfast before taking Mia home and delivering Peyton to her TiniTainers rehearsal. When we got there, Garrison was getting ready to go to a birthday party at Urban Air and asked Grandpa to take him and stay with him and take him to the soccer match at 11:10 a.m. Amanda and I ran a couple of errands before we picked up Peyton and then we all went to the soccer match. Peyton went to lunch with Claire and her family after soccer, and the rest of us went to the Salty Iguana for a quick lunch before Garrison had to be back to the soccer field for team pictures. We all then had some rest time back at the Todd home before Peyton, Amanda and I went to church at 4:30. WE had leftovers for dinner, and then the girls went to Kohl's for a little retail therapy and brought home ice cream for everyone from Twisters for an evening snack before bedtime.
Sunday was a relaxing day. We ran to Dickey's to pick up BBQ for everyone for lunch before we came on home to Clinton. Garrison was to have a play date at 1:00 and Amanda was going to mow the yard. They baked a cherry coffee cake for Chad to have when he got home for his birthday - his favorite, and Peyton made him a card. The whole family was to go to the neighborhood fall party down at the pool area with a live petting zoo. Peyton was excited a Zedonk (cross between a zebra and a donkey) was to be there. Amanda and 2 of her friends planned the event which was fun the last time they did it.
Whew - a busy week filled with love. I'm having withdrawals already - I love them so much and miss them, but we will go back on Saturday for soccer and Peyton's dance performance at Deanna Rose.
We are blessed.
