Last week of May - First 2 days of June 2019

It was a busy social week.  Tuesday night we went to the Eaton's for a birthday BBQ for Suzanne Ammons.  The Sieger's attended as well - we had a lovely evening visiting and delicious food.  Wednesday we went to a reception for our minister and his wife, Brad and Raven Reed as they are moving to Springfield.  He has Kennedy's disease and Muscular Dystrophy and is taking early disability (he's 57).  Their families are nearby in Springfield which will be good for them.  On Thursday, I went to a luncheon hosted by Debbie Sieger at noon for Raven Reed and that evening went to a P.E.O. Spring Social Game Night which was a lot of fun.  It had been a long time since I had played Yahtzee - I may have to play with the grandkids!!!!

Ron had a good 3rd week of retirement.  He played tennis 2 times and golf once, having a lot of fun.

Friday was when the real fun began.  We traveled to Overland Park to attend Garrison's baseball tournament - his team played two games.  He played catcher and shortstop.  They did not win, but they improved in the second game.  Unfortunately, their first 3 regular games had been rained out, so this was the first time they had played since last Fall.  Ron ate at Freddy's and shopped at Hyvee on the way up.  We had fun spending time with the family.  Peyton and her friends - all sisters of Garrison and his teammates - shopped at Old Navy for matching outfits to cheer on their team in the team colors of the Regulators!!!!  So fun.

We returned on Sunday for more tournament play - game at 9:30 a.m.  We stopped by the house to pick up Peyton and Amanda (the games were at ball fields in Shawnee that Tom Mintun played at when he was a youngster and Amanda and Chad had gone there to watch him play).  We stopped by to get fancy iced coffees on the way.  Garrison's bat was on fire - 3 for 3, and he caught one inning and played second base the other innings, however, they were outmatched and did not win, so their tournament play was over.  The other team was obviously a little older and more experienced, but the boys tried hard.

After the game, we had an early (11:30 a.m., so not too early) lunch together at Olive Garden before coming home for a nap!!!  Then we went to Dessert Club at the Townsends for an evening of brownies and ice cream and visiting.  A big week for these retired folks.

We are so blessed - God is good!!!!
