Garrison's Pre-School Holiday Program/Mom's Memorial Service
On Thursday this week, I "worked" at Project Christmas Cheer at our church which provides gifts for needy families for Christmas - around 950 people served. The last picture is of Debbie Sieger and me as we prepared to help families "shop". It was a hard day, but a rewarding and fun one too. I took a plate of brownies, and others brought food as well - soup, chips, candy, etc.
That afternoon, Ron and I drove to Overland Park for Garrison's All Around Child Holiday Program. We ate first at Freddy's - yummo - then went by the house before going to the high school for the program. Garrison rode with us to the program and was Mr. Chatty! He told us he was going to nod his head, sing and wiggle - we didn't know what to expect, but he did all those three things and did them well. His class song was Winter Wiggle, and he had the wiggle down! He had fun talking to Santa, and even stomped his foot at him - we aren't sure why. We didn't get to see Peyton because she had a girl scout meeting. She went home with her friend Isabella and back to girl scouts with her and her dad. She's growing up!
On Friday, I went to water aerobics and fixed some Christmas goodies in preparation for our big family celebration, Thanksmas, next weekend. Debbie Sieger and I went to Windsor to the Amish store in the afternoon.
On Saturday, Kelly and I went to an indoor garage sale (yes in December) and to Goody's where I found a couple of bargains. I fixed chili, mixed up a meatloaf and fixed bacon-wrapped little weenies for next weekend. SaraSue Sieger came to stay with us around 3 p.m. Saturday while her "parents" went to Kansas City to a party - they picked her up around 9:45 p.m.
Sunday was a busy day - church, an organ/Christmas caroling program at church at 2 p.m. followed by the annual memorial service at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home where Ron and I attended and got the poem (in picture) and angel with Mom's name on it. It was sad but comforting.
It's been raining for 24 hours now with no signs of stopping. Flood warnings. Too warm for December - 70 degrees yesterday.
Looking forward to Thanksmas next Saturday with the entire family - God is good - we are blessed.
