First Week of May 2018

The one picture is of Amanda's transplanted peonies from 810 - they are looking great!  Mine are actually going to bloom this year but aren't as nice as Amanda's - she has the touch!

The tree picture is of Garrison climbing the tree in his back yard - the highest he has ever gone!  He actually came down too without incident!

The picture of the Mark Mintun family was after Steve Underwood's funeral (Elizabeth's husband, Mary's brother-in-law).  Mark, Mary, Joe and Tom make a good looking family!  Nicole, Joe's girlfriend, was unable to attend but is an important part of the family.  Mark and Mary had driven to Clinton to visit with us last Sunday for the afternoon and brought a delicious chocolate pie.  We had a wonderful visit with them and were so pleased they came!

Now for the week!  On Tuesday, I went with Debbie Sieger to the Amish greenhouses and the Amish store in Windsor.  Debbie found many flowers to plant - we decided not to plant any annuals this year due to my treatments and the watering issue.  But, I found several things to buy at the Amish store.  We had a good morning and were home before lunch.  Nice to get out of the house.

Went to a moving sale on Thursday with Kelly.  The sale was of Glenna Smith who we worked with for many years at DFS.  We saw several people we knew and had a good time - even found a few treasures to purchase!  It was fun.

Ron and I went to Walmart on Saturday morning very early to purchase a new grill.  Ours had bit the dust after many faithful years of service - ha ha.  On our way home, Mike Edgett was outside so we stopped and picked him up to help Ron unload the grill and to load the old one for disposal.  Since they had a big dumpster at their house, Mike was kind enough to allow us to dispose of ours at his house!  Win-win.  I went to Aldi later in the morning to get a few items and then back to the moving sale for 1/2 price but didn't find anything.  Not many customers so stayed for about an hour and caught up with Glenna and Jeff - nice visit.  Ron was playing golf.

Peyton and Amanda ran in the Girls on the Run 5K Run by the Legends.  Peyton was so proud of her medal and her time, 38 minutes and 11 seconds - a better time than last year.  We are very proud of her and her Momma for running!  She also had her face painted and had her hair sprayed with color!  Garrison played soccer that morning, so Chad was with him, and they didn't get to attend this year.

Sunday we went to church and stayed for donut time.  We enjoyed visiting with our friends.  Came home to change clothes and off to OP.  Stopped at Kohl's for returns then picked Peyton up at the soccer fields where Amanda and Garrison were for Garrison's instructional league event and took her to lunch with us.  We wanted to go to Salty Iguana, but she had eaten there last night, so we went to Culver's instead.  My fried butterfly shrimp were delicious!  Then we went to Scheel's to buy Peyton some new Under Armor tennis shoes she was wanting.  Met Amanda and Garrison at the soccer fields for his recreational league match at 1 p.m.  Of course, his match was at the farthest field from the parking lot - quite a walk - but we enjoyed the match.  Poor little guy was so hot and tired already after playing since 11:30 a.m.  With not a bit of shade, it was quite hot and humid but we enjoyed watching him play.  We all went to Dairy Queen afterward for peanut buster parfaits and blizzards - the place was packed!  A beautiful day spent with family!  Chad was playing in a golf tournament and we didn't get to see him this time.

I have felt good most of the week - haven't even had to take nausea medicine since Friday.  Will work my volunteer job at church tomorrow and then to my 4th chemo treatment on Tuesday - half way!

Amanda/family are coming for Mother's Day next Sunday - looking forward to their visit.

We are so blessed - God is good.
