Since Peyton wasn't too thrilled with the hammering going on at her house, the 3 of us went to Oak Park Mall for shopping, playing in the play area and rides on the Carousel. We all had a blast. We had a gourmet dinner at McDonald's - Peyton's choice - where she enjoyed chicken McNuggets and fries and watching some little boys play.
The roofers were still home when we returned, so there was no way she was going to bed at 8 p.m. - ohhhhh - too bad - more playing! A large crystal frame had fallen from the mantle from all the hammering on the roof and shattered into a zillion pieces, so that took a little while for Grammy to pick up - Peyton was so good just watching so she wouldn't get cut.
When we finally got around to going to bed, it was pure joy lying in bed with her, holding her hand while she rubbed my chin, trying to fall asleep. She was excited we were spending the night and would be there the next morning.
First Watch was our destination for breakfast on Sunday. Peyton was not very happy her plate had eggs on it - telling us in no uncertain terms she doesn't like eggs, which EVERYONE knows, but Amanda wanted her to have the bacon and toast, so ordered that. Too funny.
What a wonderful 24 hours or so with Amanda, Chad and Peyton - we are blessed.
