August 2023 Happenings/Ron's 71st Birthday/Our 50th Anniversary/Baseball Tournament/School Starts/Remodel

Peyton started Blue Valley Northwest High School, 9th grade; Garrison started Oxford Middle School, 6th grade on August 17, 2023.  Peyton is a JV Cheerleader this year and in the Marching Band.  Garrison is starting band, playing the euphonium.  He's playing baseball with Advanced Baseball Academy.

Ron turned 71.  We went to ElCamino for lunch to celebrate.  He received several cards and phone calls.

The Siegers took us to Short Street Tavern in Montrose for dinner last Saturday night for prime rib to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.  The Todds are taking us to Firebirds Restaurant in Overland Park on September 2 for dinner to celebrate.

We are remodeling the bathrooms on the first floor. Removed the jacuzzi tub.  Walled in the half bath and are adding a washer and dryer and toilet.  New shower and cabinet for the master bath.  Cabinets raised and new mirror.  New flooring in half bath.

Spent the weekend at 3 and 2 Baseball Fields in Lenexa the weekend of August 26 and 27.  Garrison played great - we had a good time in the stands with Amanda and Peyton - good weather.  Garrison pitched, caught and had an in the park grand slam home run which was exciting.

I'm going to OP to see Peyton cheer at the volleyball game Tuesday afternoon, spending the night and then having my belated birthday "day" with Amanda on Wednesday.  Should be a blast.  We will go back Friday night to see Peyton cheer and march in the band at the BVNW Football game.  Back Saturday night for our 50th Anniversary Dinner!

God is good - we are blessed.

Birthdays for Garrison and Grammy - July/August 2023

Mark continues to improve after 10 radiation treatments on his brain cancer.   He is now able to walk quite well with his walker and is living alone again - God is good!!!  He is back working from home full time which is a miracle in itself.  Ron and I drove to St. Louis August 12 to celebrate Mark's August 11 birthday with him by fixing him his favorite meal - fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and apple pie.  He was happy we came to visit.  It was nice to witness his improvements.  Praise God.

Amanda, Peyton and Victoria went to Arrowhead to see Ed Sheeran (Peyton's Christmas present).  They had a great time.

Garrison and I celebrated our joint birthday (July 29).  We took his a cookie birthday cake with a 12 and baseball on it.  He blew out 12 candles.  We took the family to Longhorn Steakhouse to celebrate - Peyton was at cheer practice and couldn't join the fun.

The Todds sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my birthday - so special and sweet.

Garrison celebrated his "friend" birthday with a trip to Smiley's Mini Golf, pizza for dinner at home and a sleepover - Channing, Connor and Ashton celebrated with him.  He had a DQ ice cream cake

Peyton and Grammy Day was last Monday.  We picked her up around 9:30 a.m. - first stop was coffee house Out of the Blue for coffee and a muffin.  She found a couple of things at Lululemon, a sweatshirt at American Eagle, make up at Sephora and new Nike tennis shoes at Schools.  We had a great day, complete with an Uber Driver (Grandpa) and lunch at Olive Garden.

The remodel of our main floor bathrooms is to begin this coming Tuesday or Wednesday.  It will take 3 weeks.

God is good - we are blessed.
