Easter 2013

Plan to add pictures later.

Amanda and family arrived Friday evening in time for dinner -yummy Pizza Glen pizza and salad.  Peyton and Garrison examined their Easter baskets and played before bedtime.

Chad and Ron had hoped to play golf Saturday morning but the rain changed that as well as our plans for the Easter Egg Hunt on the square. But we had a great time with an indoor hunt here and had fun dying eggs.  Great grandma Mintun spent the morning with us playing and having fun.

Mark, Joe and Tom arrived mid-afternoon.  We had a delicious prime rib dinner before The Todd's went home and Tom went to Columbia.  Mark and Joe spent the night with mom.

Sunday am I had coffee with mom and mark before going to early church to play the gathering music after which Ron and I went to Aunt Gladys for lunch and then to Merle's for a visit.

Good Easter.

Grammy & Grandpa hit Overland Park

It was a fun weekend - March 15-17, 2013.  On Friday, I worked in the morning then went to one of the first garage sales of the new season - and it was a success!  All little girl things.  Bought Peyton several pretty church/dress up dresses and a few more casual things as well.  On Saturday morning, Deb Mills and I went to another all-girl garage sale - several bags and $43 later, I came home with a new coat for next year, many play clothes and a few dresses as well.  I took the things that will fit this Spring with me to OP, and they met with Mommy's and Peyton's approval as well!  Only a couple of things didn't make the cut.

Grandpa and Grammy traveled to OP after Grandpa got off work at noon on Saturday.  We stopped at Kohl's for a few minutes - then we received a text that Peyton was anxiously awaiting our arrival, so we hurried!!!!  When we arrived, Garrison was asleep - Chad was out - so Peyton, Mommy and Grammy went to Sam's Club, leaving Grandpa in charge of Garrison.

After Garrison got up, we had a coloring party in Peyton's room.  Then Mommy and Daddy got dressed up and went to an adult dinner to 801 Chop House.  The grandparents and the kids had a fun outing to Freddy's for dinner, enjoying burgers, fries and custard with gummy worms for dinner.  We managed to entertain the entire restaurant before it was over!  Fun, fun.

It was time for a little fun and bath time by the time we got home, and soon after, Mommy and Daddy came home and Grammy and Grandpa headed for home - experiencing withdrawals!

On Sunday, we went to church, had lunch with Mom then went to a St. Patrick's Day Dinner with our former church family friends - corned beef and cabbage - which we really enjoyed.

Amanda and Kids Visit Clinton 3/2/2013

Amanda, Peyton, Garrison and Apollo arrived in Clinton for a weekend visit on Saturday, 3/2/2013 late morning and were able to stay with us until after lunch on Sunday - we were thrilled! Chad stayed behind this time to get some things done around the house - hopefully he will get to come next time.

We had Amanda's favorite meal - baked chicken wrapped in bacon with mashed potatoes and coconut cream pie for lunch on Saturday, which we all enjoyed.  Peyton spent a little time working on her painting skills with Grammy assisting.  Amanda, Grammy and Peyton made a quick run to Walmart to pick up a few things while Garrison slept and Grandma Mintun and Grandpa held down the home front.  Peyton and Grandma Mintun played downstairs after Garrison woke up - babies, tea party, - you name it.  Garrison joined in some as well.  Amanda had found a fun sweet treat to make on Pinterest which we all made together - sliced bananas with a layer of peanut butter (we used honey roast), frozen, then dipped in chocolate.  Then refrozen.  Yummo!  We had a good time making them and eating them.  We had a hodge podge dinner - fried okra, guacamole which Grammy and Peyton made, fruit, leftovers, etc. - but no one complained.

By request, Amanda slept in Peyton's room on the main floor, and Grammy and Peyton slept together in Amanda and Chad's bed downstairs with Garrison in the main room in his crib - it was fun!  We all slept well.  At 6 a.m., Peyton was ready to go get Grammaw, but we put it off until around 7:30 a.m. or so.  Grammaw and Murray came over for a fun day playing and lunch.  We had a dance party with Amanda playing the piano and Grammaw, Peyton and Garrison dancing.

Grammy and Peyton made rice krispy treat bird nests with green coconut as the grass and jelly beans as the bird eggs.  We had them for dessert for lunch.  Peyton was quite proud of the finished product - it was great fun!

It was just a great, relaxing, fun weekend having Peyton, Garrison and Amanda here.  We are so blessed that they are close enough to visit quite often - we love it!!!!  We had some good, old-fashioned fun and enjoyed each other's company.

Apollo stayed behind, visiting Clinton while his family has some remodeling done on their "new" home.  Murray will love having him to play with.

We are blessed!
