June 27-28, 2014
What a fantastic 24 hours! Amanda/family arrived in Clinton around 7 p.m. on Friday night and the fun began! There wasn't much time before bedtime, but we squeezed in a little fun Friday night along with snacks and watching Caillou.
Saturday morning started early (6 a.m.) with a trip to get Grammaw and a visit to the Donut Palace by Grandpa, Peyton and Garrison (Peyton went in her nightgown - too funny). We all enjoyed some delicious donuts for breakfast, and then Grammaw, Grammy and the little people took a nature walk over to the little pond/lake by #6 and #7 to see the geese and goslings swimming around. After we returned home, we grabbed Mommy and we all went to our church playground to check out the new playground equipment and to enjoy the swings, slides and monkey bars - Peyton now has them mastered and went over them like a pro at least 6 times without assistance. (before any of that, I forgot that Merle stopped by for a little visit before joining Chad and Ron for a golf tournament. We came home and had some play time including the bubble snake blowers that Grammy made from Pinterest. They were fun, but we forgot to stress how important it was not to breathe in, and Peyton sucked in some bubbles which made her sick. We'll use bigger bottles next time. We had a light lunch before Garrison took his nap, and Grammy and Peyton made dessert kabobs with strawberries, pound cake, marshmallows and almond bark frosting. We played outside later in the afternoon - hard darts - and playing on the slide. It was a rainy, but cooler day.
The guys won the golf tournament and were rained on throughout the day. They donated their winnings back to the sponsors of the tournament.
We had a delicious ham dinner including fresh green beans that Grammaw cooked in the crockpot and honeymoon potatoes - homemade rolls - yummo - and of course, our kabobs! Peyton was so proud to pass out her dessert.
Visit was fantastic but too short - the kids went home after dinner to have Sunday as a family day (totally understandable) - but, the good news is, they will be back for Olde Glory Days either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning - can't wait!!!!!
Our new minister will begin his service tomorrow - anxious to meet him.
Great week - we are blessed.

June 2014
It's been a busy week! Retirement is going great - I really don't know when I had time to work!
I am continuing to walk every morning for 30 minutes with my neighbor, Esther Singer. Mom and I went to garage sales Friday and Saturday mornings, joined on Friday by Kelly and Sherri. We had fun and found some buys!
Saturday, Ron and I attended the reception for our minister's retirement, Dr. David Maggi. Then we went to the movie theatre to see Jersey Boys which we enjoyed. We saw them on Broadway when we were in New York City a few years ago. Then we went out to dinner at Applebee's.
Sunday was busy! After coffee with Mom, we went to church where I played the gathering music for Dr. Maggi's last service as our minister - played for about 40 minutes. After church, we picked up Mom and headed to Amanda's to spend the afternoon with her and the kids - Chad was playing golf in a tournament. The girls ran a couple of errands while Garrison, Grandpa and Grammaw napped, then we all went to the pool and then to McDonald's for fine dining! We had a great time visiting and having fun!
On to another week of retirement! We are blessed.

Busy First Week of June 2014
Busy week for this retiree! Monday night, Ron and I went to Business After Hours at Wizard Lawn - pulled pork sandwich and all the fixings topped by a Blue Ribbon Cookie - yummo. Tuesday, my co-workers from FSD invited me to join them for lunch at Pizza Hut - it was nice catching up.
Wednesday, I went with my PEO group on a KC outing. First stop was Carolyn Payne's Art Studio. She talked about how she began her business painting on tile. Interesting. Then we had lunch at Vivilore in Indpendence followed by some shopping on the way home.
Thursday, June 5, our first grandchild, Miss Peyton Augusta Todd, graduated from preschool. Grandpa, Grammy and Great Grandpa traveled to Overland Park for the ceremony, preceded by a lovely graduation party/dinner at the home of her parents. Grandma and Grandpa Todd also attended. Her Mommy had a wonderful meal for her with the cake Mommy and Garrison made for dessert. Peyton did great at the actual graduation and received her diploma. Refreshments that were made by the students followed the graduation. Fun evening.
Friday, Debbie Sieger took me to First Friday at the West Bottoms in Kansas City - a GIANT flea market day. I bought an old chalkboard for the kitchen, a broom for Garrison and some dress-up gloves with rhinestones around the top for Peyton. Lunch at a little cafe in the area was delicious.
Saturday, Ron and I traveled to Overland Park to visit Amanda/family. Peyton and I built a lego tower first thing. Amanda and Chad went to dinner with some neighbors for a birthday party. The rest of us went to McDonald's for dinner. Sunday, Amanda/family took us to The Egg and I for breakfast to celebrate an early Father's Day. The rest of the day we spent playing and having fun!
Sunday evening, Ron and I went to Supper Club at the home of David and Deb Mills. A good time was had by all!
When did I ever have time to go to work????? Having fun! We are blessed.
