Father's Day 2016
It was a great week. I graduated from out-patient physical therapy on Tuesday!!! Yay!!!! My straightness measurement was down to zero (from 12 when I started therapy) and my bend was at 115 (up from 110), so they felt I could do just fine by doing my exercises at home instead of coming there 2 times a week. I was happy to accommodate!!! It was 1 day before the 7 week anniversary of the surgery, so I was pleased.
Amanda, Chad, Peyton and Garrison went to the Royals game on Monday night and sat in Spring's Crown Seats (right behind home plate, on the front row) with all the food and drink provided that you want. Amanda said Garrison ate, and ate, and ate - 8 different things - and he ate all of the things he chose!!!! They went to the game again on Sunday - Father's Day - but - they did not sit in the Crown Seats - rather the nosebleed seats. Amanda said that Garrison kept asking, "when are they going to bring me some food". No buddy - not today!!!!
The picture above is of the hydrangea plant that was sent to us when Mom passed away last year. I planted it out back and figured it would never come back up - but it did - AND, it bloomed!!!! I am so pleased and think of Mom every time I look at it.
Our dining room furniture left the house today for a new home. It was kind of sad. We purchased the china cabinet when we lived on Monrovia, so it was 34 or 35 years old. The table and chairs we inherited from the Arthurs, so it had memories too, but we needed to make room for our "new" dining room furniture we bought from our neighbors who are moving that has a table that with the leaves will be large enough for our entire family at Thanksgiving and other family gatherings - will seat 12. The china cabinet is about 12 inches wider than our old one too. 6 chairs and a server. We will get it next Sunday. After church today, we packed up all the dishes from the china cabinet, so they are sitting around in boxes all over the living room. Amanda's bedroom furniture left for a new home the week before. Our bedroom furniture will go down there - our "new" furniture from the neighbor will come next Sunday as well.
Yesterday, we went to Overland Park for the day. We visited at Amanda's for a little while with them and with Chad's parents before we all went to The Blue Moose for a Father's Day lunch - a day early. Amanda and Chad treated all of us to a lovely time and lunch. Then we all went to Garrison's t-ball game. He played on field #25 this week which has covered bleachers for spectators. There was a nice breeze - so we didn't even get hot. It was fun. Garrison played his best game yet. Peyton had fun with her friend, Claire, helping out in the dug out and playing around.
I fixed ham, mashed potatoes and gravy and fresh green beans for lunch - it tasted so good.
Not much else happened this week. We are blessed for sure!!!!!

First Two Weeks in June 2016
June has been busy so far. I'm continuing with Physical Therapy (out-patient) two times a week and doing home exercises twice a day. I'm now walking without any assistance from a walker or cane which is nice. My stamina has not totally returned, but I am so grateful to be walking unassisted and feel blessed I continue to improve every day. I started back to water aerobics this past week and did fine but was exhausted when I got home.
Last weekend, we went to Overland Park to see Garrison play t-ball, but Peyton was sick with a fever and throwing up, so I stayed at their house with her while Grandpa went to the game. Chad's folks came as well. We had planned to go to dinner after the game, but that plan fell apart after Peyton was sick.
Our attached neighbors are moving to Arizona and selling all their belongings before they go, so we bought their bedroom set and dining room furniture. To make room, we have sold Amanda's bedroom furniture and will move our bedroom furniture down there when we get the new stuff. Our dining room furniture is for sale, but we have not yet had a buyer. We will get our new things on June 26. We are hiring some young muscles who work at the bank to move everything for us.
This weekend, we went to Overland Park on Saturday to see Garrison's game, stay with the kids Saturday night while the parents went to The Melting Pot for dinner with friends, and to celebrate Amanda's 35th birthday. We had a blast. It was very, very hot at Garrison's game, but they gave me a ride to the field in the golf cart, and I took an umbrella for the sun and a lawn chair, so between all that and the breeze, it wasn't too bad. Garrison did a great job playing!!!! Peyton had a good time being bat girl. Peyton rode home with us. After re-hydrating and resting a bit, the parents went on their way, and we took the kids to Burger King - the fine dining of their choice. They were bottomless pits!!!! First they had 5 chicken nuggets apiece, fries and a drink (chocolate milk for Garrison and vanilla root beer for Peyton). Then Peyton had a carmel and chocolate sundae. Then they both were still hungry, so each of them had a hamburger and ate it all!!!!! We were shocked they ate all their hamburgers, but they did. It's nice when they eat well. We were at Burger King forever!!! After we went home, they took baths and watched a little TV before bed. Since they have a queen size bed in our room at their house and I am still having to sleep with a pillow for my leg, etc., Grandpa slept in Peyton's bed, and Peyton slept with me. She was so cute - she said she would stay on her side (she usually sleeps close to me all night when she sleeps with me), and she kept her word!!!! They have both been very aware of my knee and been very kind in watching out for it!!! How sweet!!!!
When we got up this morning, Garrison came running into our room and wanted to watch TV in there with Peyton and me - which he did. Peyton and Grandpa went to Casey's to get donuts and coffee and had fun. Chad left for his golf tournament. The rest of us went to the pool. It was a very hot morning, and the water felt good. Amanda had her choice of where to have her birthday lunch, but the kids really wanted to have pizza delivered to the pool (they had done that a week or so ago), so she was a good mommy and let them order pizza. It was fun having it at the pool and was quite tasty. We were there a couple of hours, and it was fun!!!! I showed Peyton some of my water aerobic exercises, and she did them with me. Garrison swam the full length of the pool and did great!!!! We had a lot of fun before coming home. Garrison and Grandpa took a nap. Amanda and Peyton ran a couple of errands, and I rested a bit before we drove home in a rain storm!!!!
It was a fun, fun weekend, and we always love spending time with Amanda/family. We are blessed!!
