Memorial Day Weekend 2025/Baseball Tournament

Memorial Day Weekend was busy with trips to NKC.  On Friday, I rode along when Ron took the lady back to the airport he transports occasionally.  Her name is Kim, and she comes to Clinton to visit her Dad who is residing in residential care.  We stopped at Freddy's to have a bite to eat before returning home.  There was a lot of traffic.

On Saturday, we left home at 11 a.m. to travel to Parkville for Garrison's baseball tournament.   His team won the first game handily but lost the second.  They could have won the second but didn't play well.  Garrison had a great game though - hit 2 triples and did a great job as catcher.

On Sunday, they played at 10 a.m. - there wasn't much traffic.  It rained the entire game, but we sat in the stadium seats at the complex which had a canvas covering that somewhat kept the rain off us, so with our raincoats, umbrellas and blankets, we stayed fairly dry and warm.  Garrison pitched the entire game which his team won, 13-5.  Garrison had a great day at the plate too and did great base running.  After the game, we ordered take out from Ironhorse Grill and ate at Amanda and Chad's house.  It was fun to sit around the table and listen to Garrison talk about the game.  Fun times.

They played again on Monday, however, we stayed home and watched it on Game Changer.  Garrison was the catcher, had a hit and a walk, however, his team lost 9-4.  I practiced at church with Marnie and went to book club at Deb Mills' house.  A cool day for Memorial Day.

God is good - we are blessed.

Mid-May 2005

Enjoying peonies still!  From Mom and Daddy's house in 2015 - they outdid themselves this year.  God and Mother Nature factored in too with lots of rain.

We attended Garrison's final band concert of his 7th grade year - he plays the tuba.  They did a great job, and the band directors threw in a bit of humor too.  The gym and parking lot were packed.

Another baseball tournament - another great weekend.   We traveled to Lenexa Saturday and Sunday to see Garrison do what he loves - and he did it well.  He pitched, played catcher and batted great.  The team won the championship game of Bracket 2, 13-3.  They won 3 of 4 games and played great.  So much fun to watch them and visit with the families.

Back to normal life today.  I will practice with Marnie which I love.

We are blessed - God is good.

Branson Tournament/Mother's Day 2025 - Peyton's Band Concert/Track for G

A busy week for the Todd's and Arthur's.  Garrison had his final track meet and won the 200 and second in the 100 - also did long jump and 4 x 100 relay.  He had a good time with track and improved his running skills immensely which is helping with baseball.

We went to Peyton's final Concert Band performance - it was beautiful.

On Friday, 5/9/2025, we traveled to Branson for Garrison's weekend Mother's Day Classic baseball tournament.  Before baseball started,  we went to see The New Jersey Lights musical show and had lunch at Cheddar's.

On Saturday, all 6 of us enjoyed breakfast in the dining room of The Chateau on the Lake where we were staying for the weekend.  Delicious buffet and nice to have family time.

Before baseball started at 2 pm, Peyton, Amanda, Ron and I shopped at the Outlet Mall.  Peyton cleaned up at Lululemon, and we all got new purses - Grammy got 2!  A Kate Space denim purse and a red leather purchase - a gift from Amanda for mother's day.  I also got new Skecher white tennis shoes and Ron bought new golf shoes at Skechers.

The boys won the first game - Garrison was catcher and had a good hit.  The second game they were paired with an all star team from Springfield and were definitely outmatched, losing 5-4.

Sunday we had breakfast at McDonald's before the 10 am game which Garrison pitched 4 innings, 56% strikes which is good and had a great hit,  However, they came up short in the end and were done for the weekend.  Garrison gave me a beautiful Mother's Day card with a picture of him and the team - Hilarie Williams, Wyatt's mom, organized, and we were given a cookie from the team.

Amanda had sent me Bouq's flowers for Mother's Day which were delayed at the border, so they arrived Saturday.  Our neighbor, Esther Singer, graciously took them to her house to put in water and I picked them up from her.  At the time of this writing on Wednesday, they are still beautiful.  I picked a big bouquet of peonies from our back planting area - they were transplanted from Mom's in 2015 - the best year ever.

Hostas are crazy big this year - this big one was transplanted from Ron's Mom's house in 2010.

We have a great life - we are blessed.
