End of October 2022

After Covid, we were glad to be out and about.  My P.E.O. Chapter IU had a Fall Social at the High Bank Cabin of Dr. Gus and Susie Wetzel - hosting Chapter MT from Leawood, KS as well - Sissy Wetzel Drysdale's chapter.  No bonfire as there was a ban on burning due to dry conditions, but we enjoyed visiting, a hayride, hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill and sides along with beverages.  Some of the men chose to watch the Chiefs game at the cabin as they were playing during the social time.

I played the entire services for the 8:15 and 9:15 services at church on Sunday, 10/24 - gathering on the piano, the rest on the organ.  We still have not hired a full time organist, so 5 of us continue to fill in on a regular basis.  I enjoy it very much but will be happy when we find someone.

Chad flew to Seattle on 10/27 to join Amanda, who was there for work, for a long, couples weekend.  Ron and I were the real winners - we went to Overland Park Thursday afternoon to have a fun 5 days with the kiddos.  They had too many activities for us to bring them to Clinton.

Ron walked Bingo a couple of times a day.  We went to Peyton's play at school Thursday night - she was in charge of costumes - the kids had school on Friday.  Friday night, Garrison had baseball practice at their facility at 191st and Nall, so Ron took him.  Peyton had the play again Friday night, but Charlotte's parents transported her both ways.  Saturday was a pajama day, but Peyton and I ran to Walmart for a few things too.  Sunday we went to Smiley's to play miniature golf - Garrison won, but I had a hole-in-one!  We all had fun.  Peyton and I went to Sam's Club for a few things.  Sunday night, Peyton had religion class - we took her and her friend, Abby, and Abby's parents brought her home.  The 3 of us then went to Dairy Queen for blizzards.  Monday was bowling and lunch at Pinstripes.   Grandpa and Garrison went to Dave and Busters.  Peyton and I watched High School Musical III.

We ate and ate - Whataburger, taco bar, Amanda's chicken and mashed potatoes, baked potato bar - fun, fun.

Ron and I completed Amanda's list of things to help out around the house.  We had such fun with the kids playing Bingo, Penny Ante Poker, Texas Holdem, Crazy Eight's and Go Fish.

November will be busy with piano playing at church, working the election, Ron working at the pro shop - he gets paid now, a big $12 an hour, PEO, A day with Debbie for her belated birthday.  Bible Study, Dessert Club, Turkey dinners at Catholic Church and the bank.

We are so blessed and love God for our lives!!!!

Early October 2022 - and COVID - Universal Studios

Garrison guest played on a team for a tournament the first weekend in October.  We enjoyed his games - he was catcher and got to pitch - the first time pitching in a while.   His bat was hot, and they won both games on Saturday.  We were unable to attend on Sunday, as I played the organ at church, but they lost 10-0 so only played one game.

We had a busy Monday and Tuesday, going to Peyton's volleyball games and his baseball games, having fun at all.  Peyton's volleyball team won their first game of the season and were so excited - so glad we were there to see it.

We had plans to spend the weekend in Liberty for Garrison's ABA team tournament, however, on Saturday morning before we were to leave, we were both feeling badly - fever, chilling, cold-like symptoms - so we tested, and we were both positive for Covid-19.  We had been so careful and had avoided it since March 2020, but we attended a large gathering for Wylie Brown's celebration of life, and we think we contracted it there.  We were both very, very sick - fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throats, coughs, runny nose - so sick.  We didn't get to go to Peyton's last volleyball game on Monday.  But, we are feeling better now and get out of Covid jail on Sunday.   Brian Bellamy prescribed Paxlovid for us on Sunday, and five days of it have helped us to get better quicker.

Monty and Gloria Stratton brought us a chicken pot pie and apple butter, and Deb and David Mills brought us potato soup and brownies.  All were yummy and were handy.  We ordered our food online and picked it up at Walmart which worked well.

The tournament in Liberty we missed was won by Garrison's team - ABA/Piper - and he got to pitch some too.  Their bats were on fire.  They won 20-0 and 17-1 on Saturday and 7-6 and 6-5 on Sunday for the Championship.  He was so excited.

On Friday night, Peyton's Middle School Band got to play with the Blue Valley Northwest Band in the stands at the football game, and Garrison's flag football team got to run through the tunnel with the high school boys.  They were both pretty thrilled.

Chad brought Bingo to stay with us while they traveled to Universal Studios in Orlando, FL for a few days.  He has been an excellent houseguest.  During the same time period, I took care of the Siegers dog while they were gone.  Busy dog sitters.

We feel blessed we had our Covid vaccines and 2 boosters so we didn't end up in the hospital.  God looked after us, and we didn't get too terribly sick.

We are blessed with great friends and family who checked on us and prayed for us.
