Thursday night, July 1, we went to the Olde Glory Days fireworks with the Siegers - it was a good show.
Ron is doing well with radiation treatments - 9 down, 34 to go! We go daily for treatments to Overland Park. Mike Edgett took him on Wednesday last week - I went to Bible Study and made preparations for Olde Glory Days weekend.
We picked up Peyton and Garrison after radiation on Friday. We stopped at Burger King in Belton - by request - to pick up lunch for the rest of the drive home. We went to Olde Glory Days in the afternoon to see the aerial act on the square and checked out the carnival. They had fun playing the games - throwing bean bags to break balloons, water shooting game - both won stuffed animals. Garrison was especially thrilled.
We went to the sponsor dinner with the Siegers - it was a delicious roast beef dinner. Garrison enjoyed the Fishin' Magician who went table to table doing tricks. After dinner, we stood in line to get their armbands for unlimited rides at the carnival. After one ride, Garrison was nauseous - so unfortunately the unlimited rides included ONE ride. We bought them root beer from the root beer stand and they both got a henna tattoo (with permission by phone by the parents).
When we got home, they had their usual fudge brown ice cream sundaes before bed, and we watched the latest, recorded episode of The Hustler - a tradition we have established lately with the kids.
Ananda and Chad arrived Saturday morning. Ron, Amanda, Chad and Garrison played 9 holes of golf. Peyton and I went to Wendy's to get her a Frosty-cinno and walked out to the #3 green to take their pictures and visit with them a little bit.
We had our traditional snack type lunch - cocktail weenies wrapped in bacon - ham Sammies - Mexican corn dip - veggies - strawberries and dip.
In the afternoon, we followed tradition and frosted/decorated sugar cookies. The kids took some to Miss Esther, neighbor.
For dinner, we carried out Pizza Glen. After dinner, the Todds went back to the carnival and played some games - got more root beer.
On Sunday, I played the piano for the choir - our new preacher's first Sunday, Monty Stratton. We had Amanda's and Peyton's favorite chicken (wrapped in bacon), mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for lunch - then the Todds went home - we were sad.
Ron will play golf with Dennis tomorrow morning, July 5. We have a big week ahead - radiation every day - baseball games after radiation on Tuesday and Wednesday. I see the oncologist on Thursday.
God is good - we are blessed.
