We had a great Memorial Day Weekend full of family, fun, baseball, great food, laughs and more. Ron and I drove to Chesterfield (St. Louis) Friday morning, arriving at Mark's condo before noon. We took him enough freezer meals to fill his refrigerator freezer and a 9 x 13 chocolate sheet cake - his favorite. After a short visit, the 3 of us had lunch at Mulligans, a restaurant we had eaten at a few times with Mark, Mary and the boys years ago. The food was so delicious - Mark took home enough leftovers for his supper that night. We helped Mark rearrange some recliners before we drove on to Edwardsville, IL to check into the Holiday Inn Express for the weekend. Garrison's ABA Piper baseball team and families were all staying there. Several families from the team went to dinner that night at The Pasta House across the street from the hotel. So much food and fun!!!!!
Saturday morning, the first game of the tournament was at 10 a.m. - he also played at noon for the second game. Mark joined us for both games - it made me so happy to get to share that experience with him. His boys had played at the same field when they were Garrison's age. I twas warm, and we sat in the sun, but not miserable. They won the first game and lost the second game.
Back to the hotel. Several of the boys and their dads went to the pool and had pizza delivered for lunch. Amanda, Peyton, Ron and I went to McAllister's for a late lunch. We had a good time. The Todds went to a minor league baseball game with some of the other ABA families, but Ron and I opted out and went to Dairy Queen for blizzards for dinner.
Sunday, we had breakfast at the hotel and checked out before we met Mark and Joe for lunch at Lotawana Restaurant. It was so good - so much food - and so much fun. Mark took home to the leftovers. The boys played at 2 p.m. - won the game 10-0 (same team they lost to the day before), and then played in the championship game at 6 p.m. which they lost, but the took second out of 8 teams - something to be proud of. We drove home very late, arriving home at midnight.
Amanda/family stayed another night and went to the arch and the Royals vs. Cardinals game with the team. They had a great time and drove home that night.
A great family weekend - we are blessed.
