We're back on the baseball circuit! Garrison's new team - ABA - a club team - began the season with back to back wins. Garrison did well both games but was on fire the first game - starting catcher, 3 for 3 at the plate, 2 RBI, and received the Golden Bat Award for the best batter of that game. The second game, his great uncle, Mark Mintun, attended the game and saw him catch the whole game and hit a double. 15-12 was the score of that winning game.
Mark was in town for business, so we picked him up at his hotel on our way to an early dinner at Chipotle, Peyton's choice. Peyton and Amanda joined us - Chad and Garrison had to go to the game early and couldn't make it. We wore jackets and jeans - yes jackets - at the August 16 game! It was a great evening.
Ron and I helped at the Backyard Bash at church - fixing sandwiches, plating cake - we fed 144. Our new worship space, The Back Room, was dedicated and the cornerstone for our remodel and addition was placed. Our minister, Monty Stratton, did a great magic show. He is a multi-talented guy - he also sang and did ventriloquist parts of the show. It was great and well attended. A fun but exhausting evening.
The first day of school 2022-2023 was August 17. Unbelievable we have an 8th grader and a 5th grader. Garrison's teacher is Mrs. Davis at Cottonwood Point Elementary. Peyton likes her schedule at Middle School and is planning to play volleyball, be an assistant director for the play and be a cheerleader again this year. Fun times. She will also be in the band again this year.
Our neighbor and friend, Esther Singer, had a heart attack earlier this week and was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit. She had stents put in and will go back in 2 weeks to have another stent put in an artery which is 70% blocked.
It's been a good couple of weeks - we are blessed - God is good.
