Mother's Day and Baseball - May 12, 2024

It was a busy week.  We went to Peyton's final band concert of the 23-24 school year.  It was fabulous.  We went by their new home as Tuesday was also moving day.  It is beautiful.  Peyton was the only one home and was driving herself to the band concert.  We stopped by the old home before the concert and helped clean up a few things.

There was a surprise baseball tournament over the weekend.  We of course attended all the games, one on Friday night and two on Saturday.  We didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. Saturday!!!!  Garrison played catcher, first base and pitcher and did great.  They only won one game but we all had fun.

Before the Friday game, we stopped by the new house to pick up Peyton and Amanda and took them to eat at a new restaurant close to the new house, Iron Horse Bar and Grill.  The food was amazing, and we had a great time.

Amanda and family sent me flowers for Mother's Day with a lovely, sweet note.  Mother's Day weekend was spent at the ball park which was fun.  I played the organ and piano at church on Sunday.  Sunday afternoon we took a nap - 4 hours!!!!

What a great life we have - we are blessed - God is good.

May 2024 - First Baseball Tournament and Band Concert

Peonies moved from 810 S. Second after Mom passed away in 2015 have finally reached the point they would make her proud.  Until this year, each bush has had 2-3 blooms.  This year, each had 12-15 and are gorgeous.  I brought in a bouquet for us to enjoy.  They made it, Mom!!!!  Will never be as beautiful as your peonies patch, but it makes me smile to have at my home something from your home that you were so proud of.  You would make bouquets for me to bring home each year.

Jomar Thomas Mintun was born April 25, 2024 at Fort Myers, Florida to our nephew, Mark's son, Thomas Mark Mintun and his wife, Janine, weighing only 4 pounds - 4 weeks early.  On May 6, he is still hospitalized but is doing well.

First of three baseball tournaments for Garrison was this past weekend at HomeField close to The Legends west of Kansas City.  They struggled as they are a AA team and it was a AAA tournament, but they learned some valuable lessons along the way.  Garrison's best hit was a bases loaded triple followed by him stealing home, making the score tied.  He pitched, played catcher, first base and outfield.  We had a fun weekend with Amanda and Peyton (Chad was coaching), and our friends, Channing's grandparents, Cherry and Kent Mickelson.  We went Friday night for 2 games and Sunday for one game.

Saturday night, we took our friends, Dennis and Debbie Sieger to dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary a bit early at Rockin' C Bar and Grill in Garden City.  The food was delicious with large portions - a fun evening.

Amanda had her piano moved to the new house this week - looking good.  The rest of the big furniture arrives tomorrow.  We will be going to Peyton's band concert tomorrow nigh as well.  We plan to take a welcome to your new home basket to them before the concert.

We will spend the weekend at the baseball tournament #2 at the same ballfields as last week, beginning Friday night at a 7 p.m. game - Saturday at a 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. and unknown what time Sunday, depending on how they play at the other two games.  Will be good practice for Cooperstown coming up in a month.

I went to the pain clinic this morning.  Will get shots like before for sciatica on May 23.

We are blessed - God is good.
