The kids finished the 7th grade and the 4th grade right before Memorial Day. Peyton had a field trip to The KC Zoo and had fun. It was so chilly on the last day of school they dressed like it was winter!!!! We wore coats and gloves and covered up in blankets for most of Garrison's first "Spring" baseball and football games - it was strange weather!
It's been a busy month full of family fun!!!! Peyton's Spring Volleyball came to a close. Garrison's Spring Flag Football came to an end. Spring Baseball is in full force - Garrison is pitching, catching, playing shortstop and playing first base. He has been a "guest player" a few times on other teams. Once for a tournament with some of his previous Regulators. We attended one of those games and had a great time. We have attended the great majority of all their games and enjoy every minute.Amanda and Chad celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary with a family two-week trip to Hawaii. They learned to surf, went to Pearl Harbor and the Dole Plantation, enjoyed a luau and did all the touristy type of stuff, including hiking to the top of Diamond Head. They were excited that Amanda had enough points from flying for work so much that they all were able to fly First Class!!!!
While the 4 of them had fun in the sun, we had a houseguest! Bingo stayed with us the entire time. Chad and the kids brought him a couple of days before they left and picked him up the day after the arrived back home. Amanda stayed in Seattle on the way home to work the rest of the week.
Bingo was a good boy while here. We walked him every morning - separately - and he actually loved hanging out outside on his tether. He slept great in his kennel in the front bedroom. He had a room all to himself!
We didn't go to Overland Park for two weeks which is so rare. We usually go 2-3 times a week for games, band concerts, etc. After they arrived home, we went to Overland Park the next day for Garrison's baseball game and Peyton's sand volleyball game. Then back to Overland Park on Saturday for Amanda's 41st birthday and Peyton's sand volleyball game.
For Amanda's birthday, she chose lunch at The Bonefish Grill which was delicious, and for her birthday cake, she wanted a chocolate pie! I need to add those pictures.
Ron and I have made 2 trips to the Lake to help Mark with his impending move back to Chesterfield. The first time, Ron, Mark and I worked 4 hours at the storage unit - purging and organizing. Last week, we went to the Lake for a few hours to help and to see Tom and Joe who were there helping him too. We are going back today to help him again take some things to the storage unit and to help him load some heavier things in his van. He closes on the sale of his condo tomorrow, after which he will drive to Clinton to stay with us for 2-3 days while homeless (ha ha), then he will go to Chesterfield for the closing on the condo he is purchasing there on Friday.
Marnie and I played the gathering music a couple of Sundays in May and last Sunday. We will play again on Father's Day. Sam Lucas, our church organist, is retiring, so I will help out for a while until they hire someone new.
