April 2024 - Baseball - Band - New House

It's been a busy, busy month.   Amanda and Chad bought a new house at Ironhorse Golf Course in Leawood - for $1,300,000.00 and bought a lot of the furniture since it had just been one year since the house was remodeled.  They took possession April 20, and we spent the day with them moving some tubs and putting away things.  It is a beautiful, gorgeous 5 bedroom home with 3 living areas and a huge kitchen, several outdoor seating areas, and a beautiful water feature flowing into a koi pond at the bottom of the 1/2 acre yard.  3 car garage, beautiful trees, etc.

They sold their home at 12918 Connell Dr in Overland Park in 24 hours for $45,000 over the asking price of $585,000.   They had completely remodeled it 2-3 years ago, and it was a beautiful home.

They are moving May 7 and give possession of their previous home on May 13 after 12 years.

We enjoyed Peyton's band concert.  We went to Garrison's baseball tournament in Liberty, which they ended up losing the last game on Sunday.  It was a cold, windy, rainy weekend.  Garrison played well.  Peyton brought Isabella Large with her on Saturday.  We took her, Peyton and Amanda to the Fish Market "dive" for dinner before Saturday's game.  We had a good time.

Garrison has started the "braces" journey on his teeth and has in a spacer and expander for his pallet.  He's having a lot of pain and finding it difficult to eat.

Ron has been driving quite a bit for Max Motors, making 3 trips to St. Louis in the past 2 weeks.  He has also been driving to Lee's Summit and Harrisonville quite a bit.

Marnie and I have been practicing quite a bit.  I went to lunch with Susan Elkins and Debbie Sieger to Ben Franklin Bistro on the square last week.

Ron went to see Dr. Pomeroy for a 6 month check.  His PSA has increased from .08 to 2.8, but the doctor is not too concerned.  He also had an x-ray for kidney stone which is gone now.

We received around a total of $20,000 from O'Brien Law Firm in St. Louis on the old law suit regarding Ron's dad's asbestos cancer.  We had not received anything since 2018.  Also, Joe was very generous and is giving us $15,000 of Mark's money which we have had for a while for helping Mark the past 5 years.

God is good, we are blessed.

Baseball Tournaments, Cheerleading & Easter

Garrison had a "surprise" baseball tournament Easter weekend, so instead of having our Easter dinner on Saturday at Rye, we spent the day in Lenexa at the 3 & 2 Baseball Tournament - fine with us!  We had a great time, and ABA Piper won the Championship, placing first.  Garrison pitched, played catcher, outfield and first base, and his bat was on fire.  It was nice to reconnect with our baseball grandparent friends, Cherry and Kent Mickelson, Channing's grandparents, who live in Freeman, and all the other ABA families.  Only one new player this year.   It was a fun day.

I played the organ at the 8:15 Easter Service.  We had 186 in the congregation, and it was so exciting playing Christ the Lord is Risen Today with the trumpets in the band.   Praising God filled the room.  Then we hosted our friends, the Siegers and the Mills, for Easter lunch.  It was a lovely day.

Peyton tried out and made the JV Cheerleading Squad for Blue Valley Northwest again this year.  She went to clinic all week, then tried out on Friday evening.  She was so excited - we are proud of her.  Cheerleading practice started the following Monday - 2 or 3 times a week.  They will go to camp in the summer.  She worked really hard on her cheers for the tryout.

Garrison's team played in another tournament the first weekend in April, and we went all 3 days.  So much fun again.  The first two games were in Lee's Summit, and the Sunday games were in Oak Grove.  The first two were cold - not cold on Sunday, but so very, very windy, and it was a dirt field, so we were covered in dust when it was over.  Garrison had another great tournament, catching mostly but also pitching and playing first base.  He was the anchor of the team.  Pitched 4 scoreless innings in the championship game.  They were the #1 seed and only had to play two games to place first.  They received individual trophies, and Coach Piper received a huge winning trophy.  Two pitchers were injured.  It was a great weekend.

Gearing up for the annual city-wide garage sale weekend.  Once again, I will be having a sale with Debbie Sieger at their house.  Selling quite a bit for Amanda as they prepare to move later this month.

We are blessed, God is good!
