January 2019
I'm going to have to update my blog more often - I can't remember what has happened all month! Not sure if I blogged about our Christmas present - tickets to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra, but whether I did or not, we really enjoyed it. Garrison had not been feeling well, so he and Chad didn't attend, but we took Peyton's friend, Hailey along for the fun. After the concert, we brought Peyton and Garrison home with us for a few days. We had a blast - building a fort 2 days, playing lots of board games, making slime, etc. We ate spaghetti off the table directly.
We went one Saturday to Overland Park to see Garrison play basketball. First game of the new season - fun to watch.
There was a lot of bad weather in January, so we didn't go much to visit. Overland Park had a 12 inch snow which provided the kids an opportunity to go sledding, which they really enjoyed. It was relatively warm - in the 30s - so was perfect weather to sled.
Chad flew to Minnesota for a week of work in that location, so I went to Overland Park on Martin Luther King Day to have a fun day with Amanda and the kids. We went to Olive Garden for lunch after we shopped at Hobby Lobby to get supplies for Garrison to bake and decorate his cake for the Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts. Peyton also bought pigment powder to color slime and new glue. She loved the gold colored slime it made. Amanda had a girls night dinner planned for one of her friends' birthday, so the kids and I went to Freddy's for dinner. Then we took Peyton to gymnastics. I really enjoyed watching her do the different areas, balance beam, bar, etc. and Garrison played on his iPad. When we got home, Peyton vomited and didn't feel well.
Peyton still didn't feel well on Tuesday, so she stayed home with Grammy. She felt a little warm but didn't have much fever, but we took it pretty slow all day. She stayed home while I took Garrison to school and picked him up as a walker after school. After Amanda arrived home from work, she went to Chipotle to get our dinner since Peyton was feeling fine by then. Garrison brought home Peyton's work she missed, so I helped her with that and she had it done before Amanda got home.
There was snow and ice Tuesday night, so it was a snow day for the kids on Wednesday. Worked out great since I was up there to stay with them. We had a fun day of crafts, playing lots of board games, fixed octopus hotdogs, macaroni and cheese and peas for lunch. We baked banana bread in the morning as they had bananas perfect for making banana bread. We each ate a slice warm straight out of the oven which was fun. Amanda brought home McDonald's happy meals for dinner.
Thursday morning I took the kids to school then did some shopping at Kohl's and Walmart and drove home. I met my piano duet partner at church to practice at 1 p.m.
Saturday I spent the day at the Snowflake Garage Sale with Debbie Sieger at her booth.
On Sunday, January 27, I played the piano at both services, gathering music, a duet of Great is Thy Faithfulness with Marnie Bellamy and accompanied the choir for On Eagles Wings.
We are blessed.
