It's been a busy baseball summer. We have enjoyed all of Garrison's game, and now Fall Ball has begun - again, we are loving every minute. His team, the Regulators, has moved on to player/pitch (vs. machine pitch), and Garrison made his pitching debut with flair - no runs scored, and he didn't walk anyone. We've also attended a soccer game, and Peyton is playing volleyball, although we cannot attend due to limitations on spectators (thanks Covid 19).
Grammy and Peyton Day/Grammy and Garrison Day 2020 looked a little different this year due to Covid 19 again! Peyton wanted to shop for new school clothes on her day, so we started at McLain's Market (along with our uber driver, Grandpa) for delicious pastries, and then to Kohl's where she found a few items. On to Bed, Bath and Beyond for new hangers for her closet, and then to the mall, which doesn't open until 11 a.m. now. We diligently wore our masks at all times, and we walked the entire mall - there were very few people there! She found things at Forever 21, American Eagle and Macy's. She chose Schlotzky's for lunch - very delicious and social distanced. That evening we went to Garrison's baseball game, and then he came home with us to spend a couple of days in Clinton for "his" day this year. He and Grandpa played 9 holes of golf and I rode along and enjoyed watching him play golf for #17 and 18. He's a good little golfer. He had fun just hanging out in Clinton - playing bingo, trash, watching tv, learning to make change. He spent 2 nights.
Unfortunately, my brother, Mark Mintun, was diagnosed with bladder cancer during this time period. He will have surgery on 9/21 in Columbia at the University Hospital for removal of his bladder. We are hopeful the cancer is contained in the bladder.
I had a follow-up ultrasound and diagnostic mammogram at KU Medical Center - Indiana Creek - which revealed the cyst is a little smaller and of no worry. God is good.
We have ordered new furniture from the La-Z- Boy Store in Overland Park - should be delivered in 14 weeks.
School started for the kids last this year due to Covid 19 restrictions and the infection rate in Johnson County, Kansas. Garrison will attend in the hybrid learning plan - attending in-person 2 days a week and home learning 3 days a week. Peyton, since in Middle School, will be home with remote learning - at least until October 2. They both got new desk chairs and monitors for their desk.
We are blessed.
