Peyton's Daddy/Daughter Dance 2016 and More

On Tuesday, I had lunch with my "old" boss, Sheila, who his retiring at the end of the month.   We had a good time catching up and enjoying lunch at the Chinese Restaurant.  On Wednesday, I went to Bible Study and had a nice visit with Deb Mills afterward.

Thursday night, I was invited to join a Figit group as a sub for the evening at Brenda Eaton's house.  We had a delicious Mexican spread - baked chicken tacos, dips, marguerites etc. and had fun playing the game.  I had never played before, but I picked up on it quickly.  It was a fun evening out with 12 ladies - lots of laughs.

Friday morning, I had a MRI on my right knee.  At the time of this writing, I have not heard from the doctor regarding the results or the next step.  Knee continues to hurt but isn't as bad.

Saturday morning, we headed to Overland Park, stopping at Kohl's to return some items and buy some more!  Shortly after we arrived  at the Todds, we headed to The Salty Iguana for a tasty Mexican lunch.  Chad and Ron then headed to The Golf Show.  Amanda, the kids and I literally "ran" through Costco before Amanda and Peyton went to Peyton's girl scout event from 1-4 p.m.  Garrison and I read a fun book about dinosaurs before he went upstairs for his rest.  He was a big boy and went up there by himself since I have trouble negotiating the stairs.

After Peyton and Amanda got back, Amanda did a great job curling Peyton's hair and applying a dab of make-up.  Peyton was so proud of how she looked, and she did look SOOOOO beautiful.  She and her Daddy made a handsome couple.  They were meeting 4 other dads and daughters at Blue Moose for dinner before the dance at 6:30 p.m. at Peyton's school.  She loved her corsage and made a point to tell me it was REAL flowers.  So grown up.  Amanda and Garrison were meeting Angie and Evan at the Deanna Rose playground for gourmet Chick Fil A fine dining and playdate.  We headed home feeling blessed to have spent a wonderful day with our family.

We are so fortunate to get to spend time with Amanda/family - God is good!!!!!

President's Day 2016

The first picture is of a tea towel Mom embroidered for me many years ago.  She made me a set of different holidays to be displayed - Easter/Christmas/Summer/Winter/4th of July, Halloween, etc.  I loved them when she made them for me and treasure them greatly now.  Love you and miss you Mom.

We don't typically do much for Valentine's Day, but we went out for lunch on Friday to Los Compadres for a yummy Mexican treat.

Saturday, 2/13, we spent a couple of hours in the morning getting the garage back together after having it painted a few weeks ago.  It was nice to get things back up on the walls and moved to the upstairs storage room.  Because my worker boy (Ron) did a great job with the garage, I fixed him fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy and custard pie.

On Valentine's Day, I was pleased to find a card on the bathroom counter from my Valentine.  Of course, I ASSUMED it was a Valentine - but nay not so!!!!  I read the card and the verse with the bottom of the verse saying, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Geez - my Valentine needs help!!!!!  I neatly put it back in the envelope and told him to keep it and give it to me on my real birthday in JULY!!!!  Holy cow.  We got a big laugh out of it.  We went to church and then got Subway for lunch.

On Monday, it was President's Day, so the bank was closed.  Grandpa and I went to Overland Park to spend the day with Peyton and Garrison as Peyton was out of school for the holiday and Garrison wanted to stay home for the fun too.  We started out playing with the wet sand that they got for Christmas, then gathered up their library books for a trip to the Johnson County Library to return books and check out some more.  Peyton had the process down - she did great!!!!!  Then we ran to Sam's Club for a few items before having lunch and play time at Burger King.  We went back to the house for a half hour before Peyton and I drove to north Overland Park for her piano lesson then to Sprint to deliver Girl Scout Cookies co-workers had purchased.

Then we went back to the house and picked up Grandpa and Garrison for a fun visit to the playground at Peyton's school, Cottonwood Point.  Back to the house for a game of Trash, Slap Jack and Candyland before Mommy came home.  An AWESOME DAY!!!!

We are so blessed.

End of January - first of February 2016

It's been a long time since the last blog - I will probably leave out something!

After suffering with a sore knee since January 2, I finally went to the doctor late in January only to find I had torn the meniscus in my right knee.  Dr. Bellomy prescribed Prednisone, rest and ice.  Ron went on a golf trip to San Diego for 5 days right afterward, so it was a pretty lonely time while he was gone because I did not leave the house for a full week - and barely left my recliner.  After that week, it was some better.

Amanda and Chad went to California for a week right after Ron returned - Amanda for 3 days of work and then they went to San Francisco and Napa Valley for a vacation getaway.  I was the big winner, going to Overland Park to stay with Peyton and Garrison while they were gone and bringing them to Clinton for the weekend days - then back to OP.  Peyton having school really puts a damper on our fun while the parents are away!!!  I took both kids to school during the day to stay with their routine.  We did great getting them there on time - having breakfast beforehand - etc.  The kids were very cooperative and good - Peyton was a lot of help.  I picked Peyton up each day as a walker - it was wonderful having her bound out of the school, all smiles and happy to see me.  I took her to piano lessons on Thursday - Garrison went too and had a great time watching his iPad while she had her lesson.  She is doing so good!!!!  She played Jesus Loves Me quite well and did great on all her songs.  I enjoyed hearing her play.  After her lesson, we went to Burger King for dinner and for them to play on the play area.  Friday, I picked Garrison up first from school - had Apollo already loaded in the Jeep - then we picked up Peyton and headed to Clinton.  They were happy to see Grandpa.

Saturday morning, the kids and I went to church to help decorate for the Groundhog Breakfast on Sunday.  They were quite helpful setting the table with placemats and silverware and had fun playing in the gym.  Peyton wanted to go see Grandpa who was working at the Rotary Building for the fish fry there on Sunday and stayed with him for a little while.  Peyton and grandpa went to the playground in the afternoon - Garrison didn't want to go and wanted to stay home with me.  We had a great time playing, making Valentine Cookies and decorating them, and making Valentine's for the parents.  They also had a great time walking on the treadmill downstairs.  Peyton was so sweet and said, "Grammy, I really like the way you rearranged the basement".   She is so mature these days and was so helpful to me during the week.

Sunday we went to church, the groundhog breakfast and then the fish fry at the Rotary Building.  Garrison couldn't understand why Grandpa belonged to the club and Grammy did not.  He's a deep thinker.

After a fun time playing downstairs and games, the kids, Apollo and I headed back to OP around 3 p.m. so Peyton could go to school on Monday.  When we arrived, we had McDonald's for dinner, played Snap, Matching Game and Candyland and watched a little of the Super Bowl before bedtime.  Peyton wanted PEYTON Manning and the Broncos to win.   Garrison was so funny - while we were playing the matching game, he said,, "they all look the same from this side".  Well.............

They went to school on Monday with no trouble.  We had pizza, peas and applesauce for dinner - and baked some cinnamon rolls out of a can which they thought was great fun.  We made a welcome home poster for their parents.  Baths, bedtime and reading books - along with dancing and giggling.

Amanda and Chad arrived home around 11 p.m. on Monday night.  The kids were so happy to see them Tuesday morning and had so much to tell them and show them.  It was fun to watch.  Amanda took Peyton to school, but Garrison wanted me to take him - I think so he could stay home longer!  I took him and headed back to Clinton.

I had an awesome week with my little sweethearts - miss them already.  Pure joy.  We are blessed.

I threw in the picture of Mark/Mary/family - what a good picture at Mary's and Joe's birthday dinner in St. Louis.
