Easter 2014

We had a very Happy Easter celebration!  Amanda, Chad, Peyton, Garrison and Apollo arrived Friday evening in time for dinner - Great Grandma Mintun was here as well.  After dinner, Amanda and Chad went on a date to the movie while the rest of us stayed home and played!  We were the winners.  The kids had opened their Easter baskets and found bubble wands which Grandpa enjoyed with them outside.  They giggled and giggled as he made bubbles, and the chased them - with bats and brooms!  It was a good time.  They had ice cream cones before winding down for bed.  Peyton really, really wanted to sleep with Grammy, so Grandpa was gracious and slept in Peyton's bed so we could sleep together.  We had a great time.  Sarcella received a new tent in Peyton's Easter basket, so she slept in her sleeping bag, in the tent on the end of the bed on Peyton's side.  Too funny.

Saturday morning, Peyton and Garrison wanted Grammaw to come over, so Grandpa went to pick her up.  We had a good time having a little breakfast and playing.  Grandpa and Daddy took the kids to play golf - boy did they have fun.  Grandpa says they enjoyed driving the cart very much.  When they finished their few holes, Amanda joined them while the kids, Grammaw and Grammy dyed Easter eggs and had several Easter Egg Hunts.  Lots of laughter and fun!  Amanda only played a few holes and joined us for lunch.  While I put Garrison down for his nap, Amanda and Peyton ran to Walmart and came home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for Grammy - all Peyton's idea.  Is that too sweet or what!!!!!  I was thrilled, and they were a great addition to our Easter table.

We had another Easter Egg Hunt after Garrison woke up with the plastic eggs.  The weather was beautiful, and it was a good time.

Mark, Mary, Tom and Grammaw joined us around 3 p.m. for visiting and our Easter meal.  They brought a beautiful Easter bowl full of goodies for Grammy and the kiddos - fun bathtime fingerpaints and Easter towels.  The kids enjoyed playing with everyone, and we all enjoyed prime rib and all the fixings for our 4 p.m.. meal.  Peyton, Mommy and Grammy had made strawberry/angel food cake cabobs earlier in the day.  A good time and delicious dessert.

Easter Sunday, after I had coffee with Mom to start the day, Ron and I spent the morning at church.  I played the organ at the late service after we attended the youth-led early service and Easter breakfast.  We had a delicious ham lunch with Mom and a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Mom and I went to the cemetery.

A blessed weekend.  We are blessed.

Busy Week - April 2014

City-wide garage sale week.  Debbie Sieger and I had our annual sale Friday and Saturday.  We sold almost everything and had a great two-days of fun and fellowship.  Mom came over both days to hang out with us and Sarah Sue - the bassette hound, loved sitting on her lap and getting some "lovin".  It was nice to get everything out of the house!

On Sunday, Ron and I motored to Overland Park to visit with Peyton, Garrison and Amanda - Chad was playing in a golf tournament.  We had lunch at Freddy's, and then Garrison and Grandpa had a nap while the girls did a little shopping.  Peyton bought a Melissa and Doug jewelry box to decorate, so when we got home we worked on that project - it was fun!

It was a good weekend!  Lots of great memories.
