Disney on Ice and Weekend in Clinton - March 28-30
Not sure why some pictures are big and some are small - probably something I did!
Chad had to work unexpectedly on Friday, so Grammy was the lucky winner to use his ticket with the family - I was thrilled! Mom and I traveled to Overland Park early Friday morning. She stayed with Apollo at the house while Amanda, the kids and I motored down to the Sprint Center for Disney on Ice. It was a great show, and we all had a fantastic time! Peyton picked out a Belle doll for her souvenier, and Garrison picked out a Mickey "spinner" which he absolutely loves. They both wanted snow cones in take-home cups and Peyton also got cotton candy. We were set for the show to start which did not disappoint. Great tickets - just a few rows up from the ice center stage.
After the show, we went to Fritz's for lunch where you order over the phone and the food is delivered to your table on a train - the track is overhead. Fun for all.
We were fortunate enough to get to bring Peyton and Garrison back to Clinton with us for the weekend. We had chicken pot pie for dinner and had a fun time playing before bedtime.
Saturday morning we watched the movie, Frozen, which the kids had brought with them. They had already seen it several times, but we enjoyed it, and they didn't seem to mind watching it again. Grammaw watched it too! We played dress up, painted, made jigglers, went to a bounce house at Family Video and got to pet a horse, baked cookies, played outside on the slide, went to the pond to look for frogs, played on the concrete wall over by the pond on #17, etc.
Amanda joined in the fun, meeting us at McDonald's for lunch on Saturday. After lunch while Grandpa, Grammaw and Garrison took a nap, Amanda, Peyton and I went to Walmart. Amanda needed to wear one of her old prom dresses for a birthday party coming up for a friend, so we had a fashion show, and Peyton joined in the fun. I altered one of them a bit for her so she could have fun playing dress up in it - she had a blast. See picture. We had meatballs and rice for dinner, then we took Grammaw home before going to the 4-H Carnival. Peyton and Garrison both won a cake during the cake walk - they were thrilled. They played several other carnival fun games for a fun evening.
On Sunday, Grammaw came over early, and we had fun playing. Grammaw and Peyton built a fort in the front bedroom and took a pretend nap in it. See picture. We had baked chicken and mashed potatoes for lunch. Played outside again and back to check out the frogs and the concrete wall.
The time went too quickly - as usual - and Amanda and the kids left for Overland Park around 3 p.m. Another wonderful weekend with priceless memories. We are blessed.

March Mini-Vacation to Clinton - 2014
On Friday, March 14, 2014, Mom and I headed to Overland Park to spend a little time with Amanda in the morning - and Amanda and I even squeezed in a quick lunch at Culver's before we picked up our little sweethearts at school for their trip to Clinton for the weekend. Peyton and Garrison were very excited to see Grammaw and Grammy when we picked them up - lots of smiles and giggles. We had a great trip to Clinton. It was such a nice afternoon that we immediately went outside to play. It was windy enough, so we had some kite flying fun, and they played on the Little Tykes slide and climbed on everything. We fixed octopus's for dinner (beef hotdogs when boiled to form an octopus - one of their favorites), macaroni and cheese and green beans - and strawberries and dip for dessert.
After a good night's sleep, Saturday began with Garrison and Grandpa going to get Grandma and donuts at the donut shop. Peyton gave Grammaw a pretend makeover - in her Cinderella dress and wedding veil. We all had lots of fun playing downstairs. Garrison and Peyton both loved playing in the bean box - burying their feet and hands to lots of laughs. We then loaded up and went to the Catholic Church playground where Peyton went all the way across the monkey bars by herself with no help for the first time - we were all quite proud of her, and she was proud of herself! Garrison loved swinging - he wasn't a fan last year. They had lots of fun climbing on all the equipment and going down the slides. Then it was off to McDonald's for lunch. We saw some church friends there, and we beamed as they all told us what cute, adorable grandchildren we had - we agreed!
Garrison and Grandpa took a nap while Grammaw, Grammy and Peyton went to the Missouri 6 Cinema to see Mr. Peabody and Sherman - the movie. Peyton wanted Twizzlers to snack on and enjoyed the movie. It is told that Grammy took a little snooze for a few minutes during the movie - too funny. "Grammaw enjoyed going along and had a good time.
When we arrived back home, Garrison and Grandpa were just getting up from their naps, so we went outside. Grammy went to get pizza at Pizza Hut. We enjoyed pizza and salad for dinner and then had baths before bedtime. We also frosted and decorated some shamrock cookies for St. Patrick's Day after dinner. Peyton frosted - Garrison and Grammaw put on the green sprinkles.
Sunday morning we went to church. They love donut time after church and running around in the gym. Then we went to Grammaw's house to play and have lunch - green bean casserole, applesauce and hot bread. The kids loved having their own bottles of Sprite.
Unfortunately, it was then time to take them home. :(
After arriving back in Clinton, I was attempting to move a recliner and did not calculate how much the base stuck out which attacked my big toe! See picture. I don't think it is broken, but it sure is black and blue!. Then Ron and I went to Supper Club at the Wallaces where we had a fun evening with our "old" Christian Church friends.
An awesome weekend - we are blessed!
