Amanda was going to Spain, Mallarta (island) for a work trip, so Chad decided to go along - they went a few days early to vacation before her work started. Chad returned after a week - Amanda had to stay 3 more days for meetings. This meant we got to stay with Peyton and Garrison - and Bingo - in Overland Park from early Saturday morning until late Friday night. It was a blast! Bananas and Nutella was their snack of choice this time.
Chad made us an invaluable list of their daily activities - times, locations, etc. - so helpful! We referred to it several times a day. Many times we had to divide and conquer to get each of them where they needed to be - glorified Uber drivers. Peyton sometimes went to band or cheer practice before school and then cheer practice after school as well. Garrison had strength and conditioning at Ignite 2 different times, guitar lessons, scouts and baseball practice. Then a birthday party popped up on Friday night. Peyton cheered at a soccer match one night and cheered at the homecoming game Friday night as well as marched in the marching band, playing clarinet. We enjoyed it all and attended everything we could unless we were transporting the other child somewhere!
Ron took Bingo for a walk every day. Bingo loved to wait for a squirrel to come down out of the tree in the back - on Friday, he finally caught one and brought it to the back door. Luckily, it had rained and I was trying to get ahold of his collar to wipe his feet when I noticed the squirrel in his mouth. I soon discovered the squirrel was still alive - barely. Texted Marnie who told me to put a bucket over him and wait for him to die. We had to leave him for Chad as he had not yet died when we went to the homecoming game. Ron was gone to NKC to visit his brothers since Bryan was in town for their cousin, Lisa's, celebration of life. She died at 44 from diabetes complications. She was a sweet gal who had had a lot of illness, blindness, diabetes, kidney transplants in her short life.
One night while we were there, there was a huge thunderstorm and a hail storm - we enjoyed watching the hail from the front door with the kids. Peyton isn't afraid of thunderstorms anymore - she used to be petrified.
During the week we were gone, the remodeling of our main floor bathrooms was completed. Their cleaning lady comes Monday. It's nice to have our home back, and we love the new spaces.
It was a very busy week - we loved every minute and feel blessed to have the opportunity to spend so much time with the kiddos on their turf, in their world. God is good!
