October Birthdays and More

It's been a busy couple of weeks.  We celebrated Chad's birthday at Longhorn Steak House and Mom's 86th birthday at home with fried chicken.

This past weekend, Grandpa and I went to Overland Park early Saturday morning for family pictures at a park nearby.  Everyone smiled!  We later went to lunch at Bone Fish Grill, then Grammy went to Research Hospital to visit friend Kelly Briggs who is hospitalized for cancer.  After returning to OP, Amanda and Chad went to the dine-in cinema for a movie and dinner, and the rest of us went to Culver's for dinner.  There was a surprise car show/trunk or treat going on there, and the kids loved it.  They brought home bags of candy.  We had fun.  Gave them baths when we got back to the house and in bed - almost on time.  Sunday morning after a little play time, we went back to the hospital to visit Kelly again and then home for lunch with Grammaw.

Peyton loved her Elsa hat, and Garrison was quite happy with his flashlight!

Two Weeks of Fun - October 2014

On September 26, I went with my P.E.O. sisters to the Warm Springs Ranch in Booneville, MO for a tour of where some of the Budweiser Clydesdales are raised.  It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed learning about the Clydesdales, seeing a 4 day old baby colt, and sampling beer at the end.  We had lunch at The Fred (an old hotel), and then did some boutique shopping in downtown Booneville where we bought magic vests - they are cool.  A good day.

On that Saturday, Ron and I went with some bank folks to the UCM Football game in Warrensburg and then to dinner at The Traditions restaurant at Pertle Springs.  Another beautiful weather day for outdoor fun.

I spend every Monday night with Mom now, and we enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars together.

This past Saturday, Ron and I left Clinton early for a fun day in Overland Park with the Todds!  The kids were waiting for us on the front porch after a quick phone call to tell them we were in their neighborhood - what a wonderful feeling to see their beautiful, smiling faces waiting to see us - ahhh - warms my heart.  We had some fun around the house, then we went to the playground at Peyton's school - what equipment!  They had a blast.  It was a bit chilly with the wind, but they didn't notice.  Chad had to go to work for a few hours, and Amanda had a conference call she needed to participate in, so we were the lucky ones and had the opportunity to take the kids to lunch at the restaurant of their choice - guess where we ended up - McDonalds - surprise, surprise.

After lunch, it was time for Garrison and Grandpa to have a nap, and Amanda and Chad were still working, so Peyton and I took off for an afternoon of fun and errands.  She was such a good little shopper, and we had a blast.  She enjoyed looking at the Grammy brag books in the Jeep, and enjoyed being a big girl, getting to ride in the Jeep with her booster which we had brought with  us.  We laughed and had a blast.  We had 5 stops, and she didn't complain at all!  It was so much fun.

Shortly after we returned to the house, Garrison and Grandpa woke up, Amanda was done with her call, and Chad returned home from work, so we loaded up in the cars and went to Longhorn Steak House for dinner and to celebrate Chad's birthday a little early.  The steaks were delicious, and we had a good time before heading back to Clinton with Apollo for his Clinton vacation since the Amanda/family are going to St. Louis next weekend for a mini-vacation.  So far, I think he is having a good time.

We are so blessed - family memories.
