Peyton/Grammy Day, Weekend Visit to the Grandparents and Peyton's Church School Program

What a fun-filled weekend!  Grammy and Great-Grandma Mintun (Grammaw) traveled to Overland Park on Friday morning, 4/19/2013.  Grammaw stayed at the Todds house while Grammy picked up Peyton at school early for our first annual Grammy and Peyton Day.  Peyton was very excited when I arrived to pick her up.  She chose Freddy's for lunch.  We sat "up high" and enjoyed chicken tenders, frieds and a sundae with gummy worms.  Peyton wanted to go to the Mall, so that is what we did!  She rode the carousel - with me along but not standing right by her - she's a big girl now you know!  Then she wanted to go to the "Mickey Mouse Store" (Disney) where we spent quite a bit of time browsing, finally settling on flip flops with bling and Brave on them.  She was so sweet and always wanted to get Garrison something too.  She said, "Let's get Garrison Mickey flip flops - he loves Mickey".  She found princess socks which she loved at Famous Footwear.  She found some Hello Kitty sandals for her and Elmo tennis shoes for Garrison.  The final stop was at the American Girl Doll Store where she found Piocano a new outfit - we were not going to be able to leave the mall without something for Piocano.  So cute.  We then went to Sam's Club - she was so excited to see what the "sellers" would have to offer but didn't eat too much.  We then picked up Grammaw from the house and Garrison at school and came on back to Clinton for the next 24 hours of fun.

After a stop at home, Grammy, Peyton and Garrison met Grandpa at the Rotary Shrimp Dinner and sat with Mike and Roberta Edgett and their granddaughter, Madelyn.  We saw lots of friends who enjoyed seeing the kids.  They behaved very well, and we had a good time.

Peyton and Grammy slept together downstairs so we could hear Garrison if he needed us.

Saturday morning, Peyton was anxiuos for Grammaw to come over.  We had breakfast and played - several games of Go Fish and Old Maid (new to her) - lots of giggles and fun.  Garrison practiced riding his tricycle in the house and watched Mickey on TV.  Grandpa wanted to go to Grammaw's house to mow the yard, so we all went along and had lunch there - hotdogs with hair (aka spaghegtti) which we liked to look at but didn't want to eat (see pic), so we had applesauce, cheese, etc. for lunch.  We played outside and had a good time with balls and riding tricycles.

After going baqck home, Garrison took a nap and Peyton had a bath and got ready to attend the anniversary reception we were going to around 2:30 p.m.  She let me blow dry her hair and looked beautiful in her pretty "dance" dress and high heels.  Garrison had his bath after awaking from his nap, we got him dressed in his spiffy vest, long-sleeved shirt and khaki's - and of course, his black dress shoes of which he is so proud, and went to the reception at the Rotary Building.  The kids were sl well behaved and had a good time having cake, cupcakes, mints and lemonade.  Garrison took his milk along.

We started back to Overland Park around 3:45 p.m. and met Amanda and Chad at Olive Garden for dinner.  Peyton literally "talked" all the way home, and Garrison giggled and snoozed a bit.  We had a great time at Olive Garden and then went back to the Todds to spend the night.

Sunday morning we attended mass with the family, meeting Grandpa and Grandma Todd there, and watched Peyton's church school program.  We enjoyed a delicious brunch at the house before returning home.

A great family weekend full of memories.

Lemonade/Cookie Stand - Garage Sale - April Fun in Clinton

It was city-wide garage sale weekend in Clinton.  Debbie Sieger and I had our annual sale Friday AND Saturday this time.  We were very busy on Friday and it was soooooo cold.  We nearly froze to death but had a good time, got rid of lots of "stuff" and made a little money.  We had our regular lunch of pimento cheese sandwiches, chips and kick ass brownies.  Friday evening, Amanda and the kids arrived for the weekend.  We had a quick supper then put together the lemonade stand we had gotten for Peyton and fixed her cookies for sale the next day.  We also practiced pouring lemonade (water for the practice) from small containers - she did great!!!!  Garrison got into the act too - fun time for all.

Peyton and Grammy slept downstairs with Garrison while Mommy enjoyed a quiet night to herself in Peyton's bedroom.  Saturday morning, very early, Grammy went to the garage sale.  It was much warmer on Saturday - yea!  Grandpa went very early to pick up Grammaw Mintun to join in the fun.

Around 9 a.m., Grandpa and Amanda brought the kiddos to the garage sale, sat up Peyton's lemonade stand and brought the product - Garrison and Peyton came too.  Peyton had a blast selling her lemonade and cookies - selling out of cookies twice.  The customers were so good to her - she made $18 profit in an hour or so.  Like Chad said - proves that cute sells!

Grammy was finished with the garage sale (which was a great success - $620 profit and best of all, nothing to bring home, only one small box of stuff left which I donated) around 2:30 p.m. when the real fun began back home!  We played Go Fish, played and ordered Smith's for dinner - greasy tenderloins, onion rings, fried okra, etc. then went to Grammaw's for a little visit of play outside and ice cream bar treats.

Sunday morning, Grammy and the kiddos were up around 6:30 a.m. - we let Mommy have a must-deserved late morning, although I think our noise kept her awake - maybe she had a little "me" time resting anyway.  Grandpa and Garrison went to pick up Grammaw pretty early to join us.  We played outside, ran around on the golf course, Garrison practiced riding the tricycle (even if it is pink and purple), and Peyton helped Grammy fix lunch - scrumptious taco salad.  Peyton chopped onions, mushrooms, olives, etc. and did a great job.  She also baked cookies and made tea.  She loves to help Grammy in the kitchen - and Grammy loves having her in the kitchen!

After lunch, it was a sad time - Amanda and the kids went back home to avoid the incoming storm.  We loved having them visit and missed Chad who was playing in golf tournaments.

Overnight Visit and Deanna Rose - April 2013

We had a fantastic weekend.  On Friday, Great Grandma Mintun and Grammy traveled to Overland Park to pick up Peyton and Garrison at school and brought them back to Clinton for an overnight visit.  We started with dinner outside (courtesy of take-out McDonald's).  Afterward, we played and played on the slide, bubbles and pop-its.  It was such a pretty day.  Peyton and Grammy slept downstairs in the bedroom next to where Garrison slept in his crib.  Always a treat.

Saturday morning, Peyton wanted to go get Great Grandma at 6:15 a.m., but we put her off until 7 a.m.  Grammaw brought chocolate pudding with her - always a hit.  Grandpa had to work.  We had a great morning playing, helping Garrison to learn to ride his tricycle (not too successful), baking cookies, making mints (an early Mother's Day gift for Momma).  Ice cream cones were a hit.

Grandpa and Grammy took the kids home mid-afternoon on Saturday.  We had Oklahoma Joe's BBQ for dinner in OP - a meal again held outside (Peyton's favorite) on their new patio which is beautiful.  More bubbles and fun outside before Grandpa and Grammy returned to Clinton.

On Sunday, since Chad was playing in a golf tournament, Grandpa and Grammy traveled back to Overland Park to spend the day with Amanda and the little people.  Immediately upon arrival, we got the kids changed out of their church clothes, and we all went to Deanna Rose Children's Farm for fun with the animals, a pony ride for Peyton and play on the playground.  Giggles galore. We had a great day of laughs and play.  Peyton and Grammy gave Peyton's Barbie Car a good spring cleaning - and Grandpa and Grammy walked along with her as she drove to the culdesac.
