Peyton's School Program and Weekend in Clinton October 2016

Two more therapy treatments on my heel in the books - one the electrode and the other an ultra sound heat treatment.  I think it is getting a little better - I hope!!!!

Monday and Tuesday, I spent the day with the fellas from Sherman's Plumbing and Heating - they installed our new exciting purchase (ha ha) of a heat pump/ac system.  Ours was 20 years old and still working, but we had to have some work done on it this summer, and they said its days were numbered, so we decided to bite the bullet and get a new system before we were caught on a 10 below zero day with no heat!  The guys were very nice, and the head young man was very patient with me as we installed the thermostat controls on my phone so we can turn it up and down from wherever we are as long as we have wifi!!!  Sweet!!!  I knew Amanda could do this, and now we are in the 21st century too.  It runs very quiet and is supposed to be more efficient than our old system.  The digital thermostat is just like Amanda's, so I already knew "some" about how to use it.

Wednesday was a busy day - I hadn't been feeling very well on Tuesday - runny nose and sneezing - so I didn't go to Bible Study, so as to not expose the ladies there, but I ran some errands Wednesday morning before we left town at 1 p.m. for Overland Park.  We stopped at Kohl's and Hyvee, stopped by the Todds to put Apollo out, then we picked Peyton up as a walker and took her to Freddy's for an early bite to eat.  When I asked her if she wanted frozen yogurt after our meal, her response was, "Why wouldn't I?"  Well.....okay.  Then we went to Amanda's for Peyton to get on her costume and have her hair sprayed red (her scalp is still red on Sunday), then we went to her Halloween Music Program at School.  Chad had picked up Garrison at school - they had a quick dinner - then he took Garrison to swimming lessons before they met us at the program.  Grandma and Grandpa Todd came to watch too!  The program was very cute with lots of good songs and poems.  Peyton did a great job, and we enjoyed being a part of her big night.

Thursday, I started my day with having a filling replaced - yay.  Then I took my former co-workers, Cheri and Gina, to the Rotary Chili Lunch.  After that, I helped my friend, Susan Mosley, with an audit at church.  Friday, Kelly and I went to a few garage sales and I had therapy, ran errands, and prepared for a fun weekend with our little sweethearts.

Amanda had Friday off, so she spent the day with Peyton and two of her friends.  Then she, Peyton and Garrison drove to Clinton in time to have dinner with us.  Amanda spent the night but then went on to the lake for her annual spa weekend with her college friends.  Peyton and Garrison got to stay in Clinton.  Garrison and Grandpa went to Donut Palace for our breakfast treats, then we made some Halloween crafts - mummies, salt picture bats, etc.  We picked up McDonald's for a picnic lunch and playground time before we went out to Miss Kelly's to see her bunnies and cats.  We came home for an hour of quiet time before we went to the Aquatic Center for two hours of splashing, swimming and slide riding!!!  Peyton was finally tall enough to go down the huge outdoor tornado slide - 20 times. Grandpa went down 2 times.  Garrison went down the indoor tornado slide by himself for the first time.  They did great swimming and shooting baskets, and they both enjoyed the lazy river.  Garrison just giggled and giggled when he went by the strong jets in the current part - he thought his swim trunks were going to come down!!!! They wore their goggles and looked like pros.

We came home for BBQ meatballs and rice for dinner - by request (Peyton).  They thought it was fun eating dinner in their pajamas, as they took their showers as soon as we returned from the aquatic center and put on the pj's for the night.

Sunday, we went to church, then we stopped by the Siegers to see and pet SaraSue (the basset).  Painting and crafts was next and frosting/decorating Halloween sugar cookies.  Peyton helped make the meringue for the coconut cream pie we had for dinner along with orange chicken and fried rice and broccoli.  Amanda arrived back in Clinton around 11 a.m., we ate lunch, and then it was time for them to go home.  Peyton's girl scout group was having a trunk or treat at 2 p.m., and they wanted to get on their costumes and partake in that fun event.

All in all, we had a FANTASTIC time and feel so lucky to have an awesome daughter and such sweet, wonderful grandchildren.  God is good.

Peyton and Garrison Week!!! October 2016

Two more therapy sessions on my heel - not much change.  Ron and I went to the Museum 50th anniversary celebration on Tuesday night.  Ron went to the CHS Football game Friday night.

On Saturday, we traveled to Overland Park.  Attended Garrison's final soccer match of this season.  He played so good and scored a goal.  He "gets it" now, and is doing so much better, as were his teammates. Such a beautiful day to be outside.    Afterward, we all went to Chad and Amanda's for chili and brownies for a quick lunch before going to Peyton's TiniTainers Dance Performance at Deanna Rose Children's Farm.

Peyton was beautiful in her costume along with the other little girls in her group.  Again, it was a beautiful day to be outside, and we enjoyed the performance very much.  Peyton did a great job dancing and had a good time.  We took Amanda and Peyton home while Chad took Garrison to a birthday party at Emerald City, a climbing wall place.

We ran a couple of errands in Belton on the way home and had an early dinner at Freddy's before making our way back to Clinton.  A fun day.

On Sunday, I played the gathering music and for the 8:15 a.m. service - donut time - then home to clean house and fixed fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans for lunch.  Now we are watching the Chief's game - well I am (Ron is sleeping).  Another October beautiful day.

We are blessed.

Columbus Day Week October 2016 - Week with the Todds

I didn't do very good on getting pictures this trip - Grammy fail.

On Tuesday, I went to physical therapy for my heel.  She evaluated me and measured range of motion, etc. and thinks it is an achilles issue instead of plantar fasciitis.  All I know is that it hurts.  She massaged it and used electrode shock to enter medication into the heel.  I hope it helps.  I had a second therapy session on Friday afternoon.

After Bible Study on Wednesday, I went to the cemetery to talk to Mom, as it was her birthday - she would have been 88.  Then I drove to OP to stay with Amanda and the kiddos for a few days to help out while Chad was in Minneapolis for a training week for work.  I picked up Peyton at school - took her to the hair salon where Amanda was getting her hair done so Peyton could get her hair cut too.  After dropping Peyton off with her Mom, I went to get Garrison at his school, then took him to the salon.  Picked up Peyton - she had her hair cut by then - and took her to piano lessons.  Garrison stayed with his Mom so she could take him to swimming lessons.  We all met back up at their house to enjoy BBQ meatballs and rice with broccoli that I had taken - Peyton's favorite and Garrison likes them and eats them well too.

On Thursday, Amanda took Peyton to school, and I took Garrison to school a little bit later than usual which he enjoyed.  Then I went back to their house to pick up Apollo and took him to get his nails trimmed at the vet.  He was very happy to get to go somewhere, but he wasn't so happy to get his nails cut.  He also went with me to run a couple of errands before we went back home.  I picked up both kids at their respective schools and we all went to Burger King - their choice - for fine dining and play.  They always enjoy our evenings at Burger King - ha ha.  At 6 p.m., the kids and I loaded up in the Jeep, went by to pick up Peyton's friend, Claire, and then we took them to Girl Scouts.  After we dropped them off, Garrison and I drove up to where Peyton dances and picked up her new leotard so she would have it for rehearsal of TiniTainers on Saturday.  He was so funny.  He didn't have his i-Pad with him and asked me, "Well, what am I going to do, just sit here while we drive up there".  I told him he could watch Max and Ruby on my phone, which he did, and it seemed to make him happy.  He was a real trouper.  After we got home, Garrison took his shower and got ready for bed.  Claire's Mom brought Peyton home from Girl Scouts, then she had her shower - and then it was time for bed.  Amanda was at a Sprint work dinner and did not get home until late.  We read a book - a really long book that Garrison chose - but they really enjoyed it.   Chad caught an earlier flight home and met Amanda at a bar for drinks with some of her co-workers.

Friday morning, Amanda and Chad both went to work.  The kids and I went to All Around Child around 8:45 to meet the school van for the trip to Louisburg Cider Mill for Garrison's field trip.  Amanda had a meeting she could not miss, so she met up with us there following her meeting.  It was a nasty day - misting and very rainy and cold, but we still had a great time.  They explained to the kids how the cider is made, and they got to watch the apples in the various stages of being made into cider.  We went on a hayride to the pumpkin patch where they got to choose a pumpkin to take home. Peyton happened to be out of school on Friday, so she went on the field trip too.  I was blessed to get to go too - thanks for asking me Amanda.  Next stop was the playground area where we first gathered on the picnic tables and enjoyed an apple cider donut and cider before the kids played.

Amanda and the kids went home from there (Garrison wanted to ride in the school van back too - too funny), and I drove back to Clinton from there.  It was a fun day.

Saturday morning, Ron and I drove back to OP for the weekend, as Chad was playing golf in a tournament at the Lake with his friend, Patrick.  Amanda had already had a busy morning, as Peyton had a friend spend the night Friday night, Mia, so she had loaded up 3 kids to go to Lamar's to get donuts for breakfast before taking Mia home and delivering Peyton to her TiniTainers rehearsal.  When we got there, Garrison was getting ready to go to a birthday party at Urban Air and asked Grandpa to take him and stay with him and take him to the soccer match at 11:10 a.m.  Amanda and I ran a couple of errands before we picked up Peyton and then we all went to the soccer match.  Peyton went to lunch with Claire and her family after soccer, and the rest of us went to the Salty Iguana for a quick lunch before Garrison had to be back to the soccer field for team pictures.  We all then had some rest time back at the Todd home before Peyton, Amanda and I went to church at 4:30.   WE had leftovers for dinner, and then the girls went to Kohl's for a little retail therapy and brought home ice cream for everyone from Twisters for an evening snack before bedtime.

Sunday was a relaxing day.  We ran to Dickey's to pick up BBQ for everyone for lunch before we came on home to Clinton.  Garrison was to have a play date at 1:00 and Amanda was going to mow the yard.  They baked a cherry coffee cake for Chad to have when he got home for his birthday - his favorite, and Peyton made him a card.  The whole family was to go to the neighborhood fall party down at the pool area with a live petting zoo.  Peyton was excited a Zedonk (cross between a zebra and a donkey) was to be there.  Amanda and 2 of her friends planned the event which was fun the last time they did it.

Whew - a busy week filled with love.  I'm having withdrawals already - I love them so much and miss them, but we will go back on Saturday for soccer and Peyton's dance performance at Deanna Rose.

We are blessed.

Early October 2016

I cannot remember where I last left off, so some of this may be a repeat.  Garrison joined us for the last weekend in September.  He had a blast having a lemonade stand at Debbie Sieger and my garage sale for the city-wide garage sale weekend.  He sold lemonade, water and cookies and took in $35 - he was thrilled.  He was such a good boy all day and was there from 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.!!!!  He had fun petting SaraSue, the Sieger basset and playing with Mayzie, their golden lab.  He was polite and talked to his "customers" - "what would you like?"  Later that night, we took him to the Davis R-12 School chicken dinner fundraiser.  He thought it was funny to see grandpa's picture on the wall for his graduation from that school - 8th grade.  On Sunday, he went to church with us before we took him home and met the rest of the family at Dickey's BBQ for lunch.  Garrison was so proud to purchase the big Batman Transformer with his garage sale money.

The following weekend, we went to Overland Park to watch Garrison's soccer match.  It was a beautiful day and fun to watch.

Our P.E.O. Chapter had a hayride/weenie roast at the Wetzel's cabin, High Bank, which was well attended.  The husbands joined in the fun, and we had a big group.

On Columbus Day, Ron and I went to OP for Garrison/Grammy and Grandpa Day!!!  We started at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead where he had a good time giving the baby goats a bottle and petting all the animals.  He had fun getting taffy at the General Store and liked feeding the goats, chickens and ducks.  He said the Bison was his favorite animal.  Next was to the theatre to see the movie, Storks.  He sat quietly throughout the movie, giggling and having a great time.  We went to lunch at Freddy's - he loved his chicken strips and of course, the chocolate ice cream with gummy worms, whipped cream and a cherry - his order!  Next to Scheel's to bowl at their little bowling alley, and he played virtual hockey and baseball.  When we came home, he enjoyed playing in the back yard and climbing a tree with his sister, who we had picked up from school.

Two of the pictures above are the kids in their Halloween costumes - they are ready.
