The Big Boys in Phoenix - the little boy and all the Girls in Overland Park 1/18

Ron and Chad went on a golf trip to Phoenix, Arizona with Dennis Sieger and Randy Wertz.  So - while the boys were away, the girls (and Garrison) decided to pay in Overland Park!

I drove to OP Thursday in time to attend Game Night at the kids' school.  Amanda is PTA Co-President, so she was very busy all night,  so I was "in charge" of the kids - pretty much, they were in charge of me.  They had a blast and won a few books each and had a good time.  Amanda had to clean up afterward, so the kids and I went on home.  By the time they had a snack and showers, we were late getting to bed, but they were able to sleep late Friday morning anyway since I was going to take them to school.

The kids and I went to McDonald's for breakfast before school - they thought that was great fun.  I picked them up as walkers after school.  Amanda had come home early afternoon to work from home, so they were excited she was there when we got home!!!  We brought home Taco Bell for dinner and watched Captain Underpants (a movie) - great fun.  Peyton slept with me Friday night - they love to sleep with me.  Garrison watched TV with us for a few minutes in my room before he went on to bed with the assurance if he behaved, he would get to sleep with me on Saturday night.  We had lots of giggles!!!!!

On Saturday while Amanda took Peyton to piano lessons, Garrison and I had a fun nerf gun battle - he loved it!!!!  You can see in one of the pictures he had a shield - I did not!!!!  We had surf darts everywhere.  We also played Spot It and Monopoly.  After they returned, we went to Justice to exchange something for Peyton - found her a new top and some new shoes.  She was thrilled.  Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch - one of our favorites.  Garrison wasn't feeling very well, so he didn't want to go to his basketball game.  After we got home, he went up to his room to rest - he was a little warm and said his stomach hurt.  No one was very hungry, so Peyton and I went to get McDonald's for a light supper while we watched Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Sunday, we went to IHOP for breakfast then to Kohl's to get a dress for Peyton to wear to the Daddy/Daughter Dance at her school coming up soon.  We brought home several, and she gave us a fashion show later in the day, choosing a very cute one for the dance.  The shoes she found at Justice on Saturday go well with the dress.  Then we all went to Garrison's soccer match in Stillwell, KS.  Claire came over for a play date.  Peyton and I made a trip to Sam's Club to buy four huge briskets to take to church for bereavement dinners and some other shopping.   She had fun checking out what the "sellers" had to offer and picked out mini red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, bagels and cuties.  We had a good time.  For dinner we went to Pie Five and then to Freezing Moo for dessert.  It was wild at Freezing Moo.  Amanda/family had tried to go several times to check it out, but there was always a huge line out the door.  As cold as it was Sunday night, there was a line to the door, but the kids wanted to be patient and wait, so we did.  They make the ice cream you order right in front of you on a cold slab - the kids loved it!!!!  Peyton got Mint Night and Garrison got Smores.  Amanda and I shared Nutty something or other.  Then home for baths and bedtime.

On Monday, the kids slept late, and I took them to school.  They like that.  I went back to Amanda's to wash my sheets, etc. and was home around noon.  Ron will be home around 10:30 p.m. tonight.   It was a great few days with my favorite people in the world.  While Amanda was exchanging something, the kids and I waited in the car on Sunday evening.  I told them stories - one of which was about Klondyke and how he bit Joe when he was a baby.  They love for me to tell them stories.  Lots of family memories - we are blessed.

January 2018

Garrison has started playing basketball in a recreational league.  We had a blast watching him at his first "game" - 3 on 3 - six year olds who have never played basketball before - so entertaining.  They did a great job actually.  The second game was the past weekend, and there was a lot of improvement - they even had a semi-successful fast break!  And - they won.  They played the first two games around 159th and Metcalf, so we tried new restaurants Red Door and Costa Vida which were both tasty and quite good.

After the first game, we stayed with the kiddos while the parents went to the Chiefs playoff game.  Peyton baked brownies from scratch all by herself, using one of the new pans she received for Christmas.  We had fun playing Trash and Spot On.

The throwback picture is from 2014 - chubby cheek Garrison is a hoot, and our beautiful Peyton is just as cute today as she was in 2014.

At the second basketball game on 1/14/18, Peyton and Claire dressed as twins - they knew they had the same top and Jo Jo Bow Bow - they had fun planning it.

We had a little snow on Sunday, 1/15/18, but it isn't as cold which is nice.  The past two weeks of below zero temps has not been fun.

We are blessed - what fun with the grandkids and Amanda and Chad.  We love our family.
