December and Christmas 2022

Busy December 2022.  I played the piano and organ at 3 of the 4 Sundays at church, both alone and with my piano partner, Marnie Bellamy.  We helped at Supper with Santa and the Christmas Day dinner at church.

We had a fun PEO meeting at Brenda Ford's house - gift exchange - I am the President.

We exchanged gifts with the Sieger Christmas week.  We attended a Mystery Dinner at the First Christian Church of Windsor where our friend, David and Deb Mills preaches with Dan and Lisa Wallace.  Fun evening.

We went to 2 basketball games for Garrison - he had good games and we enjoyed having lunch with the family both times too.

I had coffee with Deb Mills every week - it takes us 4 hours to drink coffee at our gatherings - there may be some visiting that goes on.

We went to Peyton's band concert - they played well.

Amanda/family went to Pierponts at Union Station for their Christmas dinner.  It was during a snow storm with negative degree temps.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent with Amanda, Chad, Peyton, Garrison and Bingo.  After watching the Chiefs game together, we exchanged gifts - what fun - then we went to Rye for dinner which was yummy.  Christmas Day we saw what Santa brought to the kids, had traditional cherry coffee cake, then we drove home and went to the church Christmas Day potluck dinner.

Peyton and Garrison spent 12/26-12/28 with us - we transported them both ways.  Had fun playing Trouble, Kings in the Corners, Trash and poker; Peyton baked her first chocolate chip cheesecake; Ron and I both took her driving with her permit - she did a great job.

New Years Day will play the organ at church then Dessert Club is coming to our house for a fun gathering - Arthur/Mills/Wallace and Townsend - friends for 40 years.

We are so blessed.  God is good.

Basketball and Band November 2022

November has been busy - our PEO chapter had a fun Christmas gift exchange.  Marnie and I played at church 3 Sundays of Advent - love Christmas music.  Amanda and I had our annual mother/daughter day - breakfast at Out of the Blue and a bit of shopping - fun times.  We went to a potluck at church.

Spent Saturday in Overland Park- Garrison played basketball - he fouled out, but the team won at the buzzer.  Peyton dipped pretzels.

Went back to OP on Monday for Peyton's band concert - they are good!  She looked beautiful.  We had a good evening.

Going to the Sight and Sound in Branson today to see The Miracle of Christmas.  Singing at a funeral tomorrow - sang for the wife last week - sad - staff church dinner tomorrow night.

We are blessed.

Thanksgiving and 19th Annual Baking Day 2022

On Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I baked a turkey to donate to the Turkey Talkers Community Dinner - Ron took the turkey out to the Senior Center.  I also decorated for Christmas a bit - we decided to cut back on decorating this year.

Thanksgiving Day we helped serve at the Community Dinner which served 1,000 meals to those less fortunate.  The Sieger also worked at the dinner, so they came over here for lunch to eat our meals we brought home after working and also brought one for Mark.  We enjoyed a nice meal then took a nap!

Amanda, Peyton and Garrison arrived in Clinton around 5:30 p.m. and the fun began!  We played the Saran Wrap Ball game which Garrison loves.  We had snack foods for dinner.

Baking Day 2022 - the 19th annual - was a big success.  We added "Puppy Chow" and dipped coconut balls this year and had lots of fun.  Peyton baked an angel food cake from scratch which she learned to do in her cooking class at school.  Garrison continued the tradition and unwrapped 84 mini-Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for the cookies.  Grandpa and Garrison played 9 holes of golf.  Amanda and I took Peyton driving at the cemetery since she recently got her driver's permit - at 14 in Kansas.  We enjoyed our Thanksgiving Dinner - Amanda's baked chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli slaw, homemade rolls and angel food cake.  We signed the table cloth for the 13th year in a row.  We played games - Badminton Birdie Toss, Pictionary and Solo Cup questions.

Since Garrison had baseball practice at 11 a.m. on Saturday, they had to go home earlier than any of us wanted, but we had a great visit.

We are blessed and God is good!
