Amanda, Peyton, Garrison and Apollo arrived in Clinton for a weekend visit on Saturday, 3/2/2013 late morning and were able to stay with us until after lunch on Sunday - we were thrilled! Chad stayed behind this time to get some things done around the house - hopefully he will get to come next time.
We had Amanda's favorite meal - baked chicken wrapped in bacon with mashed potatoes and coconut cream pie for lunch on Saturday, which we all enjoyed. Peyton spent a little time working on her painting skills with Grammy assisting. Amanda, Grammy and Peyton made a quick run to Walmart to pick up a few things while Garrison slept and Grandma Mintun and Grandpa held down the home front. Peyton and Grandma Mintun played downstairs after Garrison woke up - babies, tea party, - you name it. Garrison joined in some as well. Amanda had found a fun sweet treat to make on Pinterest which we all made together - sliced bananas with a layer of peanut butter (we used honey roast), frozen, then dipped in chocolate. Then refrozen. Yummo! We had a good time making them and eating them. We had a hodge podge dinner - fried okra, guacamole which Grammy and Peyton made, fruit, leftovers, etc. - but no one complained.
By request, Amanda slept in Peyton's room on the main floor, and Grammy and Peyton slept together in Amanda and Chad's bed downstairs with Garrison in the main room in his crib - it was fun! We all slept well. At 6 a.m., Peyton was ready to go get Grammaw, but we put it off until around 7:30 a.m. or so. Grammaw and Murray came over for a fun day playing and lunch. We had a dance party with Amanda playing the piano and Grammaw, Peyton and Garrison dancing.
Grammy and Peyton made rice krispy treat bird nests with green coconut as the grass and jelly beans as the bird eggs. We had them for dessert for lunch. Peyton was quite proud of the finished product - it was great fun!
It was just a great, relaxing, fun weekend having Peyton, Garrison and Amanda here. We are so blessed that they are close enough to visit quite often - we love it!!!! We had some good, old-fashioned fun and enjoyed each other's company.
Apollo stayed behind, visiting Clinton while his family has some remodeling done on their "new" home. Murray will love having him to play with.
We are blessed!
