Last Post for 2016
We traveled to Overland Park on Wednesday, December 28 to pick up the kids to stay with us for a few days - 3 nights as Garrison likes to say! The kids had friends over, so we visited with Amanda until Chad returned home from work and the kids' friends went home, then we all went to Blue Moose for dinner. Then on to Clinton - let the fun begin.
First event was the kids looking through their stockings to see what Santa had left in Clinton for them. It was getting late, so it was on to bed shortly afterward.
On Thursday, Peyton and I started the day making Grammaw's homemade noodle recipe and chicken noodle soup for lunch, this of course after Peyton and Grandpa went to Donut Palace to get breakfast for everyone. She did great with the measuring, mixing, rolling out and cutting the noodles, and the soup was delicious. We also fixed cherry fluff salad and a casserole to take to a friend after her knee procedure on Friday.
Later in the day, my last boss, Sheila Hicks, joined us for lunch before she, Peyton and I went to a retirement party at FSD for Cheri Jordan Howell. Peyton behaved like a perfect young lady although she was bored until we had cake! We also brought Garrison home a piece of cake which made him happy. The rest of the day we played games and watched a movie in Netflix.
On Friday, Susan stopped by to get her meal before her procedure. We went to the Aquatic Center - Peyton went down the big red slide 10 times, and Garrison enjoyed the smaller blue slide since he isn't old enough to go down the big slide yet. We all had fun playing in the water. After that event, we went to McDonald's for lunch and had fun there.
For quiet time, we watched a movie on Netflix - but no naps, except Grandpa. We ordered Pizza Hut for dinner, and the kids had a great time painting fish piggy banks and pictures on canvas that Grammy has hanging in the kitchen! Love it.
Saturday morning was laid back. We played Sleeping Queens and Bells. Peyton slept until 8:30 a.m., as she was coming down with a cold. Miss Kelly stopped by and played Bells with Garrison and ordered Girl Scout Cookies. Miss Debbie also ordered.
We had leftovers for lunch and then started back to Overland Park to take the kids home. Amanda had ordered us new iPhone 7's, so she set those up for us when we arrived. They bought a new chair while we had the kids, so Garrison and his Daddy made the box into a rocket ship - he loved it and wouldn't let Peyton get in!
On our way home, we stopped at Longhorn Steak House for an early New Years Eve dinner - our steaks were delicious.
Goodbye 2016 - Hello 2017 and new adventures! We are blessed - God is good.
