End of September 2017
Peyton and Garrison had a day off school on September 22, so Ron took the day off, and we both went to Overland Park to spend the day with them! Peyton made slime - they each made a Halloween decoration that I had taken to them - we played games - ate lunch at Burger King, by request - and played outside. We offered to take them to Science City - Deanna Rose - KC Zoo - but - they just wanted to spend the day around home.
After lunch, Ron and Garrison went to see the new Lego Movie at the theatre while Peyton and I ran errands. She had a blast at Hyvee sacking my groceries - all of them. She felt so big! The checker was very kind to her and let her do it by herself.
After Chad and Amanda arrived home from work, we all went to the Blue Valley Northwest Football game. Peyton had participated in a cheerleader camp the week before, and all the girls "cheered" during the first quarter of the game.
On Saturday, Ron went to Methodist Men, and then we went to Mat and Andrea Thornton's wedding at Platte Woods and the reception following at the Marriott Courtyard - Dennis and Debbie Sieger rode along with us to the wedding - fun time.
On Sunday, we went to Don and Brenda Eaton's house to watch the Chief's game and have football food with the group we had watched the game with the week before.
Monday, Ron and I went to Overland Park to get the first of three gel shots in my "good" knee. Hopefully they will help with the pain. We had lunch at Culver's and shopped at Sam's Club.
I received my first Social Security check on Wednesday - am I old now?
We traveled to OP again on Saturday, 9/30, for Garrison's soccer match and Peyton's volleyball game. We took the family out to lunch at Coach's to celebrate Chad's birthday a little early on 10/16. They will be in Miami for his birthday. Ron played outside with the kids, helping Peyton with her volleyball skills. Amanda had a work conference call at piano lesson time, so I got to sit with Peyton at her lesson and met her new teacher, Mr. Jeffrey. He was very nice - a little eccentric - and I liked his teaching methods very much. Peyton did a GREAT job at her lesson and is progressing nicely. She sight reads music very easily and is doing a fine job.
Garrison has improved so much with his soccer skills and scored a goal. He truly has fun with whatever he is doing. Peyton also showed great improvement at volleyball and was very successful with her serves - she served the winning point on two of the three games they won! She was so excited they won 3 games and that she got most of her serves over - at one point 4 in a row!!!! The whole team is improving each week.
Fall housekeeping continued on Sunday, October 1 - we even skipped church. The windows and all the blinds are cleaned now along with the vents, etc. Ron will grill steaks for our lunch and some hamburgers and hotdogs for the week.
We are very blessed - family time is the best!
